INSIDER Bar — Restaurant in Krasnoselsky District

I have been wanting to come see this bar since they opened in 2021. I've come from London and I made sure this was our first stop once in Moscow.

The drinks were out of this world, incredibly inventive, full of passion and at a level higher than most bars in the world.

The service though is left to be desired.

We were told there was a dress code at the last minute, their website is down and we could not get that information.

No problem, we solved the issue, went to buy attire to fit the bar in order to be able to come in.

Once there, there was some incredible moments of service from the Baccarat Negroni service to the care of the bartender to make drinks and explain the concept.

Yet, we were left for long periods without a drink, the menu which was unavailable made it very difficult to know what was available whilst getting the information was difficult due to language barrier which isn't an issue but there were no solutions.

The main complaint was that beyond the one bartender who was incredibly welcoming, there was very little attention given or care it felt.

The worst part being told ten minutes before we needed to leave that our table time was over, being handed the bill while we just got served drinks after having purchased over 20,000 rubles worth of cocktails and food within a couple hours.

The first and last impression matter in hospitality, and sadly we were not even told goodbye or felt welcome to begin with.

Дизайн интерьера прекрасен, много свободного пространства, идеальный уровень общей громкости, комфортные столы и стулья, очаровательная барная стойка с мобильной станцией, застеклённая лаборатория, приятные бокалы, неожиданные вкусы напитков — всё это стоит того, чтобы хотя бы один раз посетить этот бар, или же, если для вас ценно ваше личное пространство и вы не любите места, где шумно и плотно, ходить в него время от времени.

Но посреди этой бочки дорогого мёда нашлось место и ложке палёного дёгтя. У бара есть дресс-код (окей, имеют право), и гостей могу не пустить сославшись на него. Так случилось и во время моего посещения: двух человек из моей компании не пустили, так как на них были моноцветные худи без надписей и рисунков. Окей, нас предупреждали, двое не прислушались — итог закономерен. Но каково же было моё удивление, когда спустя пол часа к нам за стол подсадили джентельмена в весьма растянутом вязаном свитере с Микки Маусом на груди. Как молния среди ясного неба, это событие перечеркнуло все яркие впечатления.

Окей, возможно я чего-то не знаю, и этот свитер из коллекции Balenciaga, и потому в нём можно, просто из-за цены. Но тогда и моих друзей пустить должны были, так как каждый из худи, не прошедших строгий дресс-код, стоит как вся одежда хостес, что была на ней в момент встречи. Или может дело в возрасте? Мол, мужчина пенсионного возраста — ему можно. Но тоже какая-то глупость — это эйджизм, не модный тренд. Может это был друг владельца? Но что же это за друг, если он игнорирует правила и ставит под удар репутацию. По итогу каждый вариант, каким бы он не оказался — просто демонстрация двойных стандартов. А сам дресс-код не ради атмосферы и концепции, а ради строчки «у нас дресс-код». Как итог — разочарование. А ведь всё так...

An interesting concept with a clear focus on cocktail craftsmanship. The menu is inventive, and the drinks are technically complex and well-balanced. It's a place for a focused tasting experience rather than a casual night out.
