The BIX — Restaurant in Presnensky District

Lots said about the place already, but just to provide an English review I should say that Bix is truly brilliant! Tiny, crowded at times, loud and busy, but feels bright, upbeat and elegant. You barely can get through to a bar to talk to bartenders, but you really must, as these guys can tailor a drink to your liking based on your vague rumblings, as you got there already a bit drink (been there, done that!). Then music starts, you almost step on band members toes as you try to sneak by (it is miniature indeed) piano, guitar, bootleg, brass, somebody's singing, crowd sings along, cheering, applause, it is a honestly happy audience. The more you drink the better they sound! So, if you look for a place to have a splendid cocktail in a 30es like, somewhat speakeasy environment and you're definetly not claustrophobic it is a great choice! Highly...

Great, cozy, easy, jazz bar. Everyday of the week there is a different band playing, and what I like about the place is that there is something unpretentious about it (Ok... you are in Moscow, it is fancy but still somehow simple). Unpretentions in the place where it is located (a cellar) and in the kind of jazz played (nothing complicated or histrionic), everytime a band of no more than three or four people who play for their own pleasure, music that you either can recognize or can easily connect with. Staff is very kind and helpful, menu is bilingual and snacks are yummies!! don't miss it. Out of the Jazz places I have visited in Moscow, this is by far my favorite. It is a must if you visiting Moscow and if you like live Jazz very high end quality ! The experience is quite unique . Because this bar made in way absolutely reflecting the banning alcohol times in America of 1920-1930.From outside nothing you can see but only one sign.The Bix is totally dedicated to Bix Biederbecke ,famous legend of Jazz.
