Check-in/out: We arrived early, at 10.30am and they proceeded to check us in, even though we did not alert them beforehand. We truly appreciate this gesture since we took the early Sapsan to catch a FIFA game later that evening. Visa registration was efficient and complimentary - the guy handling it seemed to be the only one speaks reasonable English. To note that you need to request for the registration print-out; it is not slipped under your door or given to you when you walk by reception. Check-out was fuss-free. We merely returned the key card and were free to go. Left-luggage service is available. ||||Location: The hotel is away from main road and is surrounded by numerous cafes, restaurants & bars with generally good food. Mini markets are available and there is a water dispenser in the hallway. There are other businesses within the building - tour companies, bakery, hair salon. Easy walk to Patriarch's Pond with hip/bohemian styled cafes.||||Room layout & space: We are a couple who traveled with 1 mid-sized luggage and 2 hand-carries. We got Room 326 and were only given 1 key card. There is only 6" between the foot of the bed & wall, hence barely any space to get to the other side of bed. Needless to say, opening luggages were a challenge. Soundproofing: Although room is away from lift area, hallway conversations are highly audible.||||Amenities: Soap dispenser, toothbrush/paste, paper thin bedroom slippers are provided. Towels are worn. Hotel should look to replace with brand new ones. No blackout curtains, so it doesn't help during white nights. Bar fridge is noisy with hard vibrations. Shower stall does not have anti-slip and is about 1 step height up. This makes it dangerous to get out of stall after shower, with no grip handles in sight. There is also no counter space in the bathroom to place...
Read moreI spent four nights here and for 1500 rubles per night I'm not sure you can beat it for value. I stayed in a single room without window and with shared bathroom.||First the good: it was very clean, the room was comfortable, the bathroom worked perfectly well with good hot water, they provide shower gel/shampoo as well as a toothbrush and toothpaste and the staff were as helpful as they could possibly be in dealing with the airport when my airline lost my luggage. There is also a nice café opposite reception (it is a weird set up...) for breakfast.||The not so good: I did have to queue for the shared bathroom on a few occasions, only one of the staff members on reception spoke any English, the TV signal was hopeless and made it unusable and on a few occasions there was no toilet paper.||The WiFi worked quite well but was far from speedy and there was never any issue with noise.||The location is actually very easy to find as there is a big sign above the door (in Russian) and is about 15 minutes walk to Red Square. There are plenty of restaurants in the vicinity too.||Overall I'd recommend this if you're on a...
Read moreI stayed with 2 other friends at Mayakovka-house in a three-person apartment for a week. ||||We had perfect service and great location. Upon arrival we were perfectly registered and everything was perfectly prepared. The place itself was clean, the shower great, and towels and beds were refreshed every day. Perhaps the only remarkable part was that the apartment had 1 small roof-window, however: one does not go to Moscow to view the city from the hotelroom-window. This was including a small kitchen with fridge and electric furnace with four pits. Pans, plates, glasses and cups (although a bit diverse, but that was also quite charming), it was all there. ||||The location is perfect: only 5 min walk to nearest metro-station of Mayakovskaya, and in a side-street of the mainstreet of Tverskaya. A perfect place from which to start a discovery of the city. Close to several supermarkets with large diverse assortments. Though we were in heart downtown Moscow, it really is a very nice and quiet area. ||||We loved it! And I would recommend it...
