I enjoyed my time at Shrimp Nation. I ordered spicy shrimp with shrimp nation sauce and 2 servings of rice and a can of diet pepsi. It totaled 98 riyals, which i found very expensive as someone who doesn't usually spend much on food of this category. However, I must say I was surprised with the quality of the food. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and very easy to peel the skin off (i usually DESPISE peeling the skin off the shrimp). The shrimp flesh was juicy and flavorful, which was further exacerbated by the rich sauce that it was submerged in. The rice was average I must say, but it's not what I came here for anyways so I didn't really expect more from them. The combination of the shrimp, sauce, and rice was delicious and is perfect to satisfy the occasional craving for savory food. The serving size is way more than enough to fill up 1 heavy eater or 2 light eaters. The food was served by dumping it on the table and then you dig in with your hands (they provide you with plastic gloves). I like this concept, but I didn't like that the table was only covered with a paper sheet, so it was SOAKED with juices that were very close to spilling over the edge of table onto my clothes. The service was RAPID. We had a decently large order, and it was served no more than 5 minutes after we ordered. The atmosphere of the restaurant is pretty average. It's not something to repel me nor attract me there; you go purely for the food! Overall I would visit again despite the steep cost...
Read moreWhen it comes to food, favoritism is a bias for me. There's always one restaurant if it comes to shrimps but today my close friend suggested to try this resto and it was beyond my expectation! (No cap)
Shrimps are big!😍 Menu is direct; no need to choose for sizes of shrimps, only options are sauces and level of spicy. And 'coz we're Asians, rice is a must! The rice we had was cook well. I'm quite particular to that. ✌🏻 Fries served was seasoned well and not soggy. Can be stand-alone or dip in their home-made sauce.
Space was huge, happily to cater large people during busy hours. Place was polished and spotlessly clean; aethetics are pleasing. My only observation is I can't find an open-space hand hygiene and that they didn't offer wet wipes for cleaning after (good thing my friend was prepared lol) A bit of music airing softly can add up to the place too.
But over-all, my experience was great! I came here for the shrimps - first time and it was worth it!🥰 Will definitely be back next time and to try their crabs and lobsters! Worth the risk shall I...
Read moreRight from the time I got invited by my friends to this restaurant, shrimp zone, I would have barely skipped a moment in the build-up from 7:15 pm, the previous day to 5 pm, today, almost 22 hours.
Finally, at 5 pm, today, We had our chance to dig in deep into the plastic bags with the gloves and apron on ...
It was one hectic experience, worth the wait.
First up Tom yum soup 🍲 😋 😍 😊 As per Hussain: the origins of Tom Yum can be traced back to India, where there is a variation of hot and sour shrimp soup known as "sour prawn soup" Awesome, especially with white rice.
Sides: Calamari basket, french fries, dynamite shrimp.
Main course: Of course, you guessed it right shrimps in 3 plastic bags (flavors: shrimp zone special, garlic, lemon)
You need to don the apron, gloves, get to work deep dive ... dirty your clothes, mess up the table, and be in the zone 100%
Overall rating 8.5 out of 10
Thanks, Hussain, for hosting me and Selmi. It's a great trio of food lovers, and thanks to Islam...
