Black Tap KAFD — Restaurant in Municipality of Al Shamal

I am writing to share my recent experience at your restaurant, a place I consider a favorite and frequent weekly destination. Unfortunately, my visit last night left me feeling unwelcome and disappointed due to the unprofessional behavior of your hostess, which I feel needs IMMEDIATE attention !

I made a reservation in my name and, though I was 15 minutes late, I was guided to a table upon arrival. I kindly requested to be seated at the two-to-three-person couch near the order machine and bar (on the right side), which was originally assigned to me. This table, where I have often been seated before, would have been perfect for me and my guest, who was visiting your restaurant for the first time.

To my surprise, the hostess informed me that since I was late, I could no longer be seated at my originally assigned table. While I understand that policies may exist regarding reservations, I found this response disappointing, especially as a loyal customer who frequents Black Tap almost weekly. I calmly and politely explained my preference to sit at the couch table, as my goal was to ensure a positive experience for my guest. Despite my efforts, she repeatedly declined my request.

I shared again 2-3 times with her that I am a loyal customer who deeply values Black Tap and its team. I explained that such a small gesture would enhance my experience, as well as that of my guest. Unfortunately, the situation escalated when the hostess responded unprofessionally, stating, “No, I will be sad if you sit there.” (That was her reply when Intold her that I will be sad if I don’t sit there.). This reply was both shocking and hurtful, particularly in an environment where customer service and satisfaction should be paramount.

At this point, I informed her that I intended to share my feedback with management, as I found her attitude unacceptable, rude and unprofessional. Only then did she backtrack, asking me to sit at the couch table and offering for me to choose any table I liked. By then, the damage had already been done—my mood and my guest’s first impression of Black Tap were ruined.

I must commend your waitstaff and kitchen team for their excellent service and consistently delicious food, which remain the highlights of my visits. However, this incident overshadowed the experience, making me feel disrespected and unwelcomed for the first time in all my visits to Black Tap.

While I do not expect special treatment as a loyal customer, I do believe that the minimum courtesy any customer—frequent or new—should receive is RESPECT and accommodation where possible. Last night, this standard was not met.

I urge you to address this matter and provide additional training for your front-of-house team to ensure such behavior does not occur in the future. Black Tap has always been a place I highly recommend, but incidents like these can easily tarnish your reputation and discourage even the most loyal patrons from returning.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Black Tap and I must say it was quite an exceptional experience. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was greeted warmly by the host, who exuded a genuine enthusiasm for providing top-notch service.

The host not only displayed a professionalism but he also made me feel welcomed and valued as a guest. He was attentive, ensuring I was comfortable and promptly escorted me to my table. Throughout the evening, they had a charming knack for maintaining a pleasant atmosphere in the restaurant.

Moving on to the restaurant itself, Black Tap exceeded my expectations on every level. The ambiance was sophisticated yet inviting, with tasteful decor that added to the overall dining experience. The seating arrangements were well-spaced, offering privacy while still preserving a convivial atmosphere.

Now, let's talk about the food. The menu boasts a wide variety of delightful culinary creations, catering to different tastes and preferences. I opted for their signature dish, the Carolina Beff burger and I must say it was a revelation. The perfectly cooked Patty was tender, and bursting with flavor, complemented wonderfully by the BBQ Sauce. Additionally, their extensive Mocktail list provided the perfect accompaniment to the meal, further enhancing the overall dining experience.

I must commend the dedicated staff for their exceptional service, impeccable attention to detail, and the delightful experience they provided. From the host's warm welcome to the top-notch cuisine, every aspect of my visit was truly memorable. I would highly recommend the restaurant to anyone looking for a superb dining experience with exemplary hospitality.

First-time customers after hearing how good their food is when they opened a branch in Malaysia, while we were in KSA. We came here for a late lunch and they truly did not disappoint and we all left with our bellies full and smiles on our faces. The burgers were cooked to perfection to the doneness as what we requested. The buns have a soft and fluffy feel to it. We ordered the Cuban burger and the Pear Bacon Jam Burger. Def try the pear bacon jam burger if you are into blue cheese. A bite will make you crave for more. We also had the shrimp tacos. With the crispy taco shell combined with the flavourful shrimp and fillings, it was definitely an explosion of flavours in the mouth after every single bite. 10/10 would recommend. We also order the mini fish and chips for our toddler. We noticed that it was fried a tad bit long as the batter had a darker tone to it and not the typical golden colour you get with your usual fish and chips. That, however, was redeemed as the flesh was still juicy and moist. For drinks, we ordered a normal shake and not the fancy schmancy ones and the watermelon iced tea. The shake is like your typical American Diner shake but the iced tea portion is too little IMHO.

The cozy and inviting ambiance, complete with great decor, further enhances the dining experience. They also had a couple of arcade video games where I enjoyed playing Metal Slug with my son while waiting for the orders to arrive. Customer service was on point and we were made to feel very welcomed by their staffs.

Overall the food was good but do prepare to pay on the higher side. The burger we ordered were SAR75 and SAR90 for the Cuban Burger. I would gladly repeat my visit to try other things...
