It was my first time visiting Kuuru after hearing many great things about their food. I was greeted warmly by the receptionist and welcomed inside. Two of my friends were already sitting at the bar. After joining them, we decided we would prefer to move to a table so we could sit facing each other. The restaurant was fairly empty with plenty of available tables. However, when we spoke to the manager, Olena, she refused our request, saying the tables were not available for us. Unfortunately, her way of communicating this was extremely rude. Despite this, we decided to let it go and enjoy our time. Before we received our last dish, Olena came back to tell us that we could now move to a table. As we were discussing it amongst ourselves, she interrupted and said, “If you don’t move now, I won’t be able to give you a table after.” Her attitude was very upsetting. I’m genuinely a nice person, and the friends I was with are some of the kindest people you’ll meet. I have never been spoken to like that before, especially not in a place that considers itself a “fine dining” restaurant. Aside from this experience, everything else was wonderful. Our server, Marilia, was absolutely lovely, she made sure we were well taken care of throughout the evening and added a warm, welcoming touch to our experience. The rest of the staff were also incredibly polite and friendly. The food was great too, I particularly enjoyed the Wagyu Chahan and Wagyu A Lo Pobre. And make sure to save room for dessert, their cheesecake is incredibly light and absolutely delicious. Overall, it’s a shame that one person’s attitude overshadowed an otherwise lovely experience.

Today I had the pleasure of visiting Kuura, a coming restaurant from Jeddah to Riyadh, and I must say the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we stepped through the doors, the impeccable service provided by the staff, especially Alfredo, made us feel truly welcomed and valued. The culinary delights we indulged in were a true delight for the senses. We started our meal with the Kurru ceviche, which was a perfect balance of freshness and flavor. The crab salad was a refreshing and delightful appetizer, while the shrimp crocante added a delightful crunch to our dining experience. Moving on, the nikkei sando and the tako furikake sushi were both exquisite, showcasing the chefs' exceptional skills in blending international influences with traditional Japanese techniques. The Wague chahan, a Japanese-style fried rice dish, was a standout, with its perfectly cooked grains and complex flavors. To cap off our meal, we savored the Kuuru cheese cake and the lima chokoreto, both of which were simply divine. The cheese cake was creamy and indulgent, while the lima chokoreto provided a delightful contrast of sweet and tangy. Overall, our visit to Kuura was a true culinary adventure, where the exceptional service and the exceptional quality of the dishes made for an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend Kuura to anyone looking for a fine dining experience that goes above and beyond, where the food and the ambiance come together to create a truly memorable evening.

So just to start off the place is quite pricey so can’t say I’d recommend it outside of special occasions. That being said the food was altogether pretty good. We ordered a variety of the menu items and managed to try at least an item from each category. For the appetizers the crab salad is quite delicious with a lovely dressing. The Chirashi box is a fun order giving you something to do as you eat while you toast the nori. The sando isn’t too bad but I felt it was slightly underwhelming. The one that kind of surprised me and I enjoyed was the tuna toast, which had a nice sauce on the side. The sushi and maki were good but not great and kind of small in size considering the price. My favorite from their originals was the Ama niku. The yokai lobster is a nice order if you like lobster. While the nori furai didn’t taste different than many other fried rolls. The hamachi picante didn’t have much flavor from the fish with most coming from the additions on top. We ordered the salmon and the Wagyu Chahan (not pictured) for the main course. The salmon was good but nothing too special as far as salmon goes. While the fried rice was really good but felt too small for the price point yet again. All in all its a nice place to go to with lovely ambiance and food. But I did have somewhat higher expectations going in.

We visited the restaurant as a group and were so excited to try the food as others recommended it. When we ordered we informed two waiters that some of the people on the table had certain allergies and we asked them to point out if any of the dishes contained any of the allergens; the waiter confirmed that the people who had the allergies cannot have 1 of the salads and 1 of the appetizers we ordered, which we were fine with. The food started arriving and with almost every dish that comes out, the waiter informs us that the people who are allergic cannot have it; we were disappointed as we discussed this with him beforehand and told him to let us know so we can order alternatives; but we didn’t say anything and waited for the main courses as the 2 people who had allergies have barely eaten anything at this point. The four main courses arrived and after the waiter places them on the table, he informs us that they contain some of the allergens. We were surprised as we weren’t informed of that beforehand, the manager came by and we explained the situation, he said he’ll make it up to us and proceeded with getting a plate of a boiled chicken breast, a plain white chicken breast with nothing else on the plate; hospital food looks better than that chicken breast; we also didn’t say anything and waited for desserts to arrive, i then asked the manager as he was by our table if one of the desserts included a type of nuts, and he looked at me rudely and said “don’t lie to me, you didn’t say you were allergic to that” which we absolutely did at the beginning. It was a friend’s birthday so we didn’t want to ruin the night and make a fuss, but i tried to call the restaurant more than 5 times afterwards to complain, with no answer, and i also sent a whatsapp message telling them i have a complaint and no one has replied as well. Such a disappointing experience especially after being so excited to try...

What a special night at my favorite restaurant!

As a regular guest, I can share how grateful I am to the amazing team that makes every visit a unique experience. Tonight, once again, I witnessed the dedication and talent of Kuuru.

Since I discovered this corner of culinary magic, I have noticed that there is something special about the way they always greet each person with that unmatched smile, how the people in charge of the service seem to know exactly what you need before you ask. And like the guys at the bar, whose ability to create cocktails worth remembering always surprises me.

Every detail, from the ambiance to the impeccable service, has made me feel at home. Sometimes, you sit at the table and, between drinks and laughs, you realize that you have found something more than just a place to dine; you have found a little refuge where human connections, even if brief, leave an indelible mark.

To be honest, I have spent many moments here that I will remember fondly, and that is due to the passion and dedication of the entire team. Today, I want to toast not only to great food, but to those people who make every night here a little brighter. While some faces may change over time, I am sure the spirit of this place will always remain intact.

Tonight was special for me, not only because of the great food and service, but knowing that even though this may be my last visit as a regular customer, I will always carry with me the memories of every special moment spent here.

Thank you for the unforgettable moments and for making every visit feel like a reunion with old friends.

With gratitude,...
