Babu Lal: Sweet Eats or Spice Surprise? (Delivered Review)
Babu Lal delivered right to my door, promising yummy Indian food at a good price. Did it taste as good as it sounded? Let's find out!
Food: I got a LOT of food for the money! Enough to share, for sure. But the taste wasn't quite what I expected. The butter masala and chicken tikka masala were a bit sweet, like someone added candy to the spice. Some people might like that, but I was hoping for something more, well, spicy!
Place: Babu Lal isn't fancy, but it's clean and cozy, like your friend's house.
Delivery: The food came fast and hot, like a friendly hello from the kitchen.
Bottom Line: If you want cheap Indian food with a sweet twist, Babu Lal is a good choice. But if you're looking for something more traditional and spicy, you might want to keep looking.
Bonus Tip: Reviews can be like different kinds of dance - some people like salsa, others like belly dancing. Just because I didn't love Babu Lal's food doesn't mean you won't! Give it a try and see if it moves your taste buds.
Remember: Food is like music - everyone has their own favorites. This is just my opinion, so have fun exploring all the different flavors of Indian food!
I hope this helps you decide if Babu Lal is the right...
Read moreWe have been wanting to visit Babulal for quite some time, given its amazing reviews on Google. Upon stepping in, you would notice that interior were beautifully decorated and staff was warm, friendly and accommodating. However, I noticed a strong scent coming from the electric incense which was a bit too intense for my liking.
For our meal, we ordered the Cauliflower 65, plain biryani, tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala, and butter naan. The food was decent but didn’t quite leave a lasting impression. The tandoori chicken, served as a half chicken portion, had disappointingly small pieces and lacked the bold tandoori spice. It resembles more liked grilled chicken. The biryani rice, on the other hand, was soft, flavourful and aromatic. The chicken tikka masala was a bit of a let-down. It was creamy and rich but leaned too much on the sweet side and lacking the signature spicy depth. The Cauliflower 65 was a hit which had a crispy, well-seasoned coating that stood out.
We arrived with high hopes, but our experience felt a bit short. While, Babulal boasts a beautiful ambiance and potential, it lacks the authentic northern Indian flavour profile that i was hoping for. However, the service was exceptional and kudos to the team for their outstanding...
Read moreThe food was delicious and the service was great.
These are the dishes we ordered:
1- butter chicken It was well-seasoned and delicious.
2- Chicken Tikka Masala I preferred it over the Butter Chicken, it had a lot of seasoning and a slight tanginess to it.
3- Chicken 65 It was absolutely delicious and I asked them to put ground peppercorn on it instead of chunks which is how it’s normally served and it enhanced the taste and texture.
4- Saffron Chicken The chicken felt different from the chicken in the other dishes, the seasoning and the sear was great but the chicken itself was overcooked which made it a bit too chewy instead of juicy.
5- Kebab Seekh This was our least favorite dish, the spices were overwhelming and the meat wasn’t the best, I will stick to their main courses.
6- Mint Raita Simple and well seasoned, great Raita
7- Butter and Cheese Naan The Naan was extremely buttery and soft, it was amazing and you couldn’t have enough of it ❤️
Overall the food was amazing, the only problem was the small amount of chicken in their Masala and Butter chicken, and the expensive Naan, other than that, it was a...
