After hearing so much about California Burger in Riyadh, my anticipation was sky high as I made the trip from another city, excited to try what I hoped would be an unforgettable meal.

Unfortunately, my experience was memorable for reasons I hadn't expected.

Upon arrival, the first hurdle was the inability to order online, which might have saved me from the 20-minute wait just to step inside.

The bustling atmosphere hinted at the popularity of the place, but it also meant that finding a suitable table for three was a challenge.

We were initially directed to an uncomfortable table at the entrance, which was far from ideal.

“The table manager” suggested we wait there until something better became available. This was a less-than-welcoming start.

Once we ordered, a group left, freeing up a more comfortable spot. We moved to make the space work for us, but our attempt to merge two tables for added comfort was met with a surprising and unsettling reaction from the table manager.

His insistence on separating the tables, despite the clear benefits for our group, was puzzling and dampened the mood of our meal.

Despite this organizational chaos, it's worth mentioning that the food did have its high points. The meat at California Burger was genuinely good, offering a taste of what could have been a delightful dining experience under different circumstances.

However, the overall atmosphere was affected by the unnecessary strictness and apparent displeasure of the table manager, which made our dining experience less enjoyable. It was particularly disappointing given the effort and anticipation of traveling specifically to Riyadh for this meal.

Recommended by one of our top bloggers Dee and for the love of beef burgers, I had to visit TCB. Known for its different variants of Angus burgers, TCB has earned quite some name since starting its first branch in Jeddah in 2016.

Service (8/10): Dine in has opened since the curfew relaxation took place. Although, the staff took measures to check each person entering the restaurant for temperature as well as PPE, They were really polite and professional in their ways. Contactless menu selection was followed by some minor delays in recieving the order.

Ambience (9/10): Their ambience should set an example to most of the restaurants and cafes here in Riyadh. Simple, adequate and to the point is how I would describe it. They have worked really well on one huge wall which sets the tone for the entire branch. Each table has its own individual lighting and the seating is exquisite.

Food (7/10): The burger meal (along with fries and drink) was very presentable. Cheesy fries tasted excellent, Burgers were good but honestly it could have been a lot better. The burger on the whole was really juicy and tasted fine (Made out of layers of angus beef containing melted cheddar cheese slices between them, lettuce and tomatoes served in a toasted buttered bun) but the patty seemed a little dry on the inside which is the only thing that wasn't satisfactory.

Ordered Items: 4x4 Burger : 4 Layers of Angus patty filled with tomatoes, lettuce and cheese, a meat lovers paradise. 2X2 Burger : Burger made of 2 Angus patties and other fillings. Cheesy Fries : Thick cut french fries with a topping of melted American cheddar cheese. Pepsi : Ye pyaas hai badi 😅

The California Burger : One of the most amazing burger-joints that i have ever came across , serves beef burger 🍔 and takes it to a whole new other level Our order was cali fries and 3x3 burger and another 2x2 burger .. when it comes to the burger it actually transcends describing , it will blow your taste buds beef patty is rich in flavor and at the same time not that greasy ! No matter how much you eat you still want more ! Bun is consistent with the size of the patty Cheese is amazing, sauces are extremely perfect. When it comes to the potato’s , REAL FRESH POTATOS it is exactly as they claim it to be .. fresh and hand-picked . staff are mostly saudis and all are welcoming and know how to deal with rush . Seatings are comfy and on each table there is a light that makes you see the real beauty of the burger Overall atmosphere is great !
