The only thing thai about this place is the decoration. The food did not taste even close to THAI FOOD. It was truly disappointing for the price paid. When i informed the waiter that the food is not thai food and did not even have the right flavours or taste, all he had to say is that they never received such a comment before and proceeded to question if i am thai? I’m a malaysian. Thailand is our neighbour. I have travelled to Thailand more than 20 times for trips up to a month. I love Thai food and regularly make some dishes as staples in my own home besides also having thai friends who dine together. The chef had apparently trained in Thailand and returned 3 years ago. However, truly nothing was authentically Thai other than the decoration. The dish was not spicy despite requesting it to be. The spring rolls provided were vietnamese and local senegalese instead of thai. The crackers served were indonesian. The restaurant is truly confused with what food they are serving and is totally a scam and an insult to state they are even serving Thai food. The chilli requested on the side was the local senegalese chili paste. They truly did not make any authentic thai dipping sauces either. They provided watered down soya sauce as a dipping sauce for the spring rolls. The chicken and cashew nuts dish is meant to be flavourful and spicy however this was also watered down and tasted more like a bad chinese stir fry. I was truly disappointed as i was really looking forward to having thai food but was greeted...
Read moreI’ve been to this restaurant with my husband a few times and always enjoyed it. We’ve brought other people here as well who have come since. The food is yummy and the drinks are tasty as well. I really like the outdoor garden which has a cute little pond and Thai decor.
I gave the restaurant 3 stars and not 4 because of price and but more importantly because of our waiter’s attitude. I’m probably a little spoiled because I live in San Francisco where we have tons of Thai restaurants which creates competitive prices, so the idea of paying $17 US for Pad Thai $5 for the fresh lemon soda felt a little steep. Also our waiter was a bit dismissive and inattentive. He took awhile to take our order, served our food but took awhile to bring our utensils, and then questioned why I sent my drink back after I saw that the mouth of the soda water bottle had some weird brown stuff on it that looked like rust or something. An easy fix would be to just swap it out but instead said that it wasn’t the restaurants fault that it looked like that. We weren’t saying it was their fault, I just wanted a new bottle. Simple!
All and all, I like this place. This was my first time having a bad experience with the waiter but I would go back. I’d just request a...
Read moreMade the trek to Le Jardin Thaïlandais for my traditional Christmas dinner, usually at a Chinese place, but since this place had Chinese appetizers, thought I’d mix things up this year. The place was empty except for some ex-military Brits also away from home. The menu is pretty full of options written in French and English. Great selection of appetizers. I ordered the won ton dumplings, turkey satay, and summer rolls. All came fast, and tasted fresh. They give you those fried rice puffs, also fresh and crispy. We also ordered the chicken with yellow curry and the roasted duck with red curry and vermicelli. All tasty. Not too spicy. I guess I could have asked for more spice. The portions were pretty good. The red curry duck with black mushrooms was very tangy and a touch spicier but in all honesty it tasted like red curry beef, not turkey. The meat was super tender and had the consistency of shredded beef. I asked if they made an error, maybe they slipped in some roast beef. I got this look like I was crazy. The dish was good but it didn’t taste like duck. Ordered a second Flag, wrapped up the leftovers and went home. Next time I’ll order the pad thai, which I’m sure is good. They also have an all you can eat buffet...
