Green House Bar, Cafe, Restaurant — Restaurant in Mahé

On 2 occasions visiting GreenHouse we have gotten awful food. On 1 occasion, we ordered beef hard tacos and seared tuna. The beef tacos were bland, chewy beef and stale taco shells. The seared tuna came cooked to the point that it was cardboard. It was sent back to the kitchen. The owner came to ask why the dish was sent back and we explained that it was not in fact seared tuna. To which she responded that the waiter should have asked if we wanted it cookes or not. The 2nd attempt of seared tuna then came out of the kitchen, this time it was raw and there was no sign of a flash fry to sear it with random sesame seeds covering it. We did not even attempt to eat it. The owner came back again to ask what the problem was and we said now its on the opposite end of the scale to which she responded "do you want some oyster sauce with that?" Really? No discount was given, no apology was received. We fed the tuna to our dogs that night.

On the 2nd occasion we ordered a seafood pizza thinking no one can get pizza wrong, right? Wrong! Frozen seafood mix was used as the toppings which was under cooked and a can of tuna sprinkled all over the pizza. When we complained we got nothing but hostility back. Again, no discount or apology.

Pity the food and service lets this place down as the vibe and decor of the place is quite pleasant. And based on that I would...

The food was good.

However, service was really bad. We got the impression that we were a distubance to their schedule or something. They were preparing for some sort of party in the evening, I guess.

We were already sitting there for 5-10min until someone asked us if we wanted the drinks-menue (we had alleady ordered food from the board at the entrance). Then, that same someone walked past us at least 10 times (At a certain point, I started counting) without asking us if we would like to order our drinks now. Another 10min later the guy from the bar came over and finally took our order.

Finally, when we wanted to pay by credit card the girl tried, but then let us know they had problems with their paying devices and walked away with our credit card in her hand! I then suggested we pay cash in Euro, so she took the 50€ bill and brought the change in Rupees without letting us know what the € amount actually was.

We went there this Thursday and had a quite disappointing experience. There was 1 female and 2 male waiters. The guys were friendly more or less, the woman the exact opposite (unfriendly and not wanting to talk to customers as it seemed). We ordered the soft tacos with pan fried (!) fish and received deep fried fish on cold soft tacos. The other dish was the whole grilled (!) fish with rice and chutney. The rice was cold and the chutney without any flavor. And the fish was actually not even grilled. It was pan-fried in oil and then put into the pizza oven. That's what the waiter even explained. When I asked that it says "grilled fish" he replied that that's how they grill fish 🙄 basically the whole food was disappointing and after our remarks that it was not really good and both dishes were not cooked as written on the menu, our waiter decided to ignore us mostly until we asked for the bill. Not a tiny apology or maybe a little discount/free dessert was offered. Thus, I can only recommend to go other places...
