My review particularly revolves around the lady who is in charge of taking order and cashier. In my bare bone words: ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE (verging on SCAM). Here's some of the pointers from my solo dining experience:
First of all there's no proper menu with clear price tag next to the food items. Lesson learnt is to always ask for the price of the item.
The lady in question insisted that I have to order 2 garlic naan despite my insistence that 1 was enough because according to her it is "very small". Admittedly, I trusted her recommendation and ended up barely finished 1. Lesson learnt is to be steadfast to your original intention.
she didn't have the decency to tell me that a mere butter chicken gravy on the side would cost $4. Lesson learnt is to take nothing for granted.
The lady doesn't emanate the experience of dining in peace through her upselling and scheming attitude. That in itself takes away the basic criteria of any food establishment must have: comfort.
This place has changed so much from the what I remembered few months back. There are other newer Indian food joints around the area who serve better food and certainly much...
Read moreUsed to be a regular here with my family. Will not return to this store henceforth. Few days ago, I ordered teh ice and it tasted like the staff added too much of condensed milk with VERY LITTLE tea grounds/sachet in it. Hence, I told her this tastes like pure milk rather than teh. She claimed that because of the ice, the teh tastes like milk. Kept arguing back with customer saying it's cause of the ice. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE! Too much of condensed milk was added HENCE the taste was like milk rather than teh. This ISN'T about dilution cause of ice!!! No apology was given. Made me agitated to think that I was given "condensed milk" rather than teh for $2. Had to be extremely stern & told her to taste the drink if she doesn't believe me, that's when she agreed to re-do my drink. Previous Indian Muslim female staff was great. The current Indian one is a big NO. Staff has to improve on customer service etiquette. Extremely horrendous customer service. Will never return to this...
Read moreUpdate Apr '23: The place has changed: More process oriented, less friendly, smaller portions. Food is still good but will be finding a new fave for this cuisine. Loses a star to 3.
Nostalgic old school feel to the place adds to the good traditional flavours. Pay after eating. So far only tried and like in order of preference byriani with butter chicken ($6), curry chicken ($6), lamb shank ($12.9). Byriani rice is light and separated well, not clumped together. IMO the prata is also good - my goto place now for prata for taste, portion and price ($1/pc for plain). IMO sufficient portion for the price across the menu. Place appears to struggle with volume though... did I say old school. Hope they keep the taste, qty and ingredients if/when they do modernise the...
