The old school Chinese restaurant vibes normally spells good food, however this restaurant has not.
$129 for 2 pax and a toddler. Worse than zi char or food court fare. Don’t waste your time and money here.
Roasted pork feels like they could injure someone in a riot and char siew was rubbery and bland as well. Could load into the Slingshot system and down Palestinian rockets with it. Sweet and sour fish was just sweet and sour. Fish no taste at all. Probably some crap frozen tilapia dead 6 months ago.
Salted egg prawn also felt cheap and while large in pieces, felt like frozen ones without any character. Your zichar stall downstairs can do better.
Roast duck had skin so fatty, it was more than the meat it came with and if you chose not to eat it and brought it home to your pooch, it’ll likely need a heart by pass the next day.
$3 per pax for wet tissue, packet mixed nuts for table snacks and drinks are mandatorily forced upon you. Cannot turn down. So desperate meh?
I never knew a Chinese restaurant in Singapore can be this poor and without pride. I’ve witnessed this today and understood why this place has so many 1 star ratings.
Feedback to staff during payment about the lousy food, the manager didn’t even bother to come out the explain when his staff comms to him/her. One staff said I should have mentioned immediately upon tasting and they would have swapped the dishes for us. Seriously? Swap with the same subpar dishes? For what? To throw birds with? Then she offered me dessert which felt so dismissive. I was already done with the sad meal and leaving.
Well no problem. I guess they couldn’t offer anything of value anyway with their limited training.
I have nothing against the table staff but overall, the management is clearly indifferent to customer experience.
It’s better I leave a review here to warn others not to waste your time, at least something good comes out of this poor...
Read moreVery typical chinese restaurant, excellent value for money. 4.2/5 There is a promo 4 adults for the price of 3.
Came here for a buffet Mon evening, there were only 10 -12 tables. We had 26 dishes 😂 I know, we wanted to try it all!
The fish and seafood dishes were really fresh. Buddha jump over the walk was the clear broth version, had a small abalone, fish mall and scallop!
I love the fried Soon Hock. Orange Prawn Balls, Roast Duck (they gave us the leg portion) and Cereal Prawns were so tasty and succulent! The herbal chicken tasted authentic, many hours of effort in it. Parts of the chicken was tough but I think it comes with the hours of cooking may be. XO Carrot cake is a must, fragrant, tasty! (Fyi I am normally not a big fan of carrot cake) Durian puree spring roll! 😋😋😋 老火汤 Chinese soup is so good!
Variety of desserts that were generallt good, cheesecake, herbal jelly, osmanthus jelly, peach and white fungus / jelly stewed soup, many icecream flavours, bubble tea.
On the fence: Parts of the Oyster omelette had too much starch, Sea bass is good but not very memorable. One small/medium crab for 6, but good enough since we had so many dishes, tasted average. Sambal kang kong is normal, a better sambal would have alleviated the flavours. Porkbelly, jellyfish, char siew were ok....forgettable
Misses: Scallop dish had too much mayo. Satay felt a bit too tough, Lala soup was a bit bland. Bubble tea bubbles were a fail, disintegrated as I drank it. Cheesecake could be a little less sweet.
*I did not try the century egg congee
I love that they employ the older generation.
Wish they had more hot drinks / tea options instead of 1 only. I mean it is a must of $3++ per person and you serve only chinese tea, coffee and hot water for the...
Read moreHad the buffet dinner here recently, and opted for menu A. The quality of food was variable, with some dishes tasting great and some were not so great. Some food were to be ordered via an ordering form while some were self-service (which we would not have known if we have not visited before; no staff explained it). Some food items that were on the order form were also present at the self-service area. We figured out ourselves that we would have to take it ourselves and whatever ordered on the order form was void.
My family and I do not eat the stomach part of a fish. When the auntie came to clear our dishes, she stood at our table and stared at the fish. She pointed at the fish (my estimate was that there was about 10% of fish left) and said ‘there is still meat’… l’m sorry but our family don’t eat that part of the fish. She refused to clear the dish even after we explained that, and continued standing at our table, pointing and nitpicking that there is still some meat left. She only cleared the dish when a manager came over and told her to just clear it. What a comfortable eating environment! The manager herself stares at every single plate she clears from the table (not just our table, other tables as well). I’m not sure what she means by that but it does make us feel very uncomfortable.
Something to take note of is that the number of times we order dessert is limited. Not only are we limited to one serving of each dessert per person, we only have two chances to order. Interesting concept of buffet. The cheesecake (a super tiny piece) was pretty good though.
The restaurant is pretty cold so I would recommend bringing a jacket.
Overall, average food and below average service, would not recommend unless there are no...
