Iām normally not one who will write reviews, not to mention negative reviews. This marks the first time Iām writing one.
Came here on Sat (5th Aug) around 1ish and my bf went to the counter to order 1 x Scrambled Eggs & Cheese Waffle ($13.90 in the menu), added 1 x Milkshake + Side ($11.90 in the menu) and initially wanted to order the Bacon, Egg & Cheese Waffle as well but was informed that there werenāt any waffles left. So he got a Ham, Egg & Cheese burger ($14.90 in the menu) in the end. Food was generally ok, waffles werenāt that crispy and hot but the chicken was still tasty, so I had no complains about the food.
After finishing my food, I happened to look at the receipt and only then we realized that we got charged $28.80 for the Scrambled Eggs & Cheese Waffles + milkshake + side instead of the supposed $25.80 which was stated in the menu after adding up. We also got charged $15.90 for the Ham, Egg & Cheese burger, instead of $14.90. So we went to the counter to check with the staff and even tallied with the menu at the counter. The staff told us that the prices were correct, after checking her tablet, and checked with her supervisor on this after we pointed out from the menu. The supervisor told her that the prices had changed in the system. The staff seemed like they just wanted to tell us the same thing as the supervisor did not say anything else afterwards, so at this point, I reasoned out that it doesnāt make sense for us to pay extra when we were not informed before we paid and upon payment. We shouldāve checked once weāve paid but how could ALL the menus not reflect the new prices? While I understand that this might have been an overlook and although we did get back a $4 cash back, no one apologized for this misunderstanding and for charging us extra. Iāve done F&B before, and I know that the staff might not be aware of the price change, it couldāve been changed just earlier that day but service couldāve been improved.
Please change out your menu and reflect the new prices ASAP, as this is considered as...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI stumbled upon this place while exploring the sides streets coming off North Bridge Rd, across the street from Sultan Mosque. Holy cow! It was an authentic fried chicken restaurant cooked in a way that was VERY reminiscent of soul food restaurants I enjoyed in the United States. Their chicken and waffle sandwich was the BEST I've stated in my time in Singapore, and I'm embarrassed to admit I've enjoyed WAT too many chicken & waffle dishes since I've been here! IMHO, it is better than nearby pricier restaurants that offer the same southern US style cuisine (WINK). The chicken in the waffle sandwich was well marinated and juicy. The batter was crispy, flavourful, with a little bit of a mild heat "kick'. Savoury and sweet in each bite. The syrup offered with it complements the waffle and raises the savoury-sweet contrast. Honestly, It's a party in your mouth...
Don't waste your time with ketchup - enjoy the side with their signature "pink sauce".
The courteous staff deliver customer service with ownership and pride in the food as if they had a financial stake in this success of this restaurant. The restaurant is small inside, but there is ample seating outside which is convenient at night when it is cooler. I'm surprised there wasn't a long queue at the time I visited this place. There is a lot of love that went into their recipe and this restaurant, and it shows. You get great value for the dollar - no frills dining and great tasting US "soul" food.
For anyone is need os an authentic fried chicken, or chicken and waffle experience in Singapore, this is it.
Also, the owner (I think his name is "BoBa")... he is very personable and hands-on with his customers. That makes me want to return and bring others with me so they also have a a memorable fast-food experience.
WARNING: Don't even attempt counting the calories in this meal when you are here - just...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy daughter and her young friends love their chix. And lots of folks rave about how arguably they serve the tastiest, juicy and just delish fried chicken. We've been meaning to try it. Friday family dining night is ideal and we finally did. They are not wrong. Good diner stuff #TaufikBatisah's #Chix.
I can understand the appeal to the young ones. They don't mind small spaces though it might be challenging for larger families to dine there. Then my daughter shared when she was there with her friends loving and just vibing there were lots of families who are pretty chill with it. Small families like us. Due to these small old shop house spaces where they are located at the chillax Jalan Pisang it is hard to seat large families or group. Perhaps their other outlet is roomier. A shame because the kind of delicious adulterated classic fare closer to our local palate is really good. The service friendly too. And the rare free flow refillable soft drinks is mighty sweet too. We love.
The true star is the food. Specifically the marinated fried chicken. I must say I'm lovin and impressed with the tender, juicy and really tasty base chicken they serve. And when you have their own sauces and dressings ā I presume ā on top of them giving such umami bomb to your taste bud hey it's a winner. I had the The Pepperjack since it's blended with yuzu while my baby girl had her favourite The Breakfast Slider. My wife and son opted for the light bites. Since we are not good with spice heat ā we are a family of spice wusses ā we settled for level 1. It's already a nice kicker. And no dare or enticement is gonna get us to go for the 'death' killer spice ones. But if you're game go for it.
We'll be back for...
