I recently had the displeasure of trying what's arguably the worst Duck in Singapore.
Despite being a "Best Seller," the dish was a letdown. Some parts of the Duck were burnt, while the over-marination made the meat unappetizingly mushy. It's perplexing that a dish so lacking in quality could be a staple for some people. The hefty price tag of $74 only adds to the frustration.
To make matters worse, the chilli sauce was overly tangy and not spicy at all. Its ratio was completely off. Even the packaging of the sauce was poorly designed, with the tear-off mechanism being more for show than function. I ended up using scissors to open it. Furthermore, the Restaurant has cut costs by removing the previously included plum sauce.
Unfortunately, my experience was consistent with the poor quality I've come to expect from this chain. I had a similarly unpleasant outcome at the Lot 1 outlet, which also left me with a nasty case of diarrhoea. In fact, this Duck has earned the dubious distinction of being the worst I've had, even surpassing the subpar Johnson Duck.
Needless to say, I won't be returning. The subpar food quality and lackluster presentation make this establishment's prices unjustifiable. A revamp of their offerings is necessary to improve the overall...
Read morePeanut pork ribs soup, angelica herb quarter duck, 3 bowls of white rice and French beans. Lastly also added iberico char siew pork. Total cost around 77 dollars.
Soup is very tasty and delicious, me and my wife absolutely loved it. Not even a single drop was left.
French beans isn't very good.. don't get me wrong, the taste is good. However, the French beans are tough and old in texture. Did not finish it even though we were not full.
Angelica herb quarter duck, portion is average. Taste of the sauce is superb. We are able to taste the complexity of the various herbs, all mixed evenly into one sauce. Unfortunately, meat is tough and overcooked a little. The duck meat itself doesn't come off the bones smoothly but instead is stuck to the bones due to the overcook.
Char siew pork. Again, the taste is very good but more than half the slab of meat is actually fats... I do love my fats on meat especially when it comes to pork, but more than half is fat is too much for me.
Service staff is very friendly and helpful with our ordering.
Overall not bad, I just feel that it's very unfortunate that the sauces are so well made but the dishes that come along w the sauces are not...
Read moreHas always been a fan of DXE, their food is delicious and has been very consistent.
However this recent experience at DXE Causeway Point outlet has been terrible. I have ordered (takeaway) the Signature set for 10 pax and some other dishes for a small celebration (payment was made already)
Since it's a takeaway, I was asked to wait outside for around 20-30 mins. After waiting for 25 mins, I checked in with the staff and they told me the order has not been processed due to technical issue. The staff asked if I was OK to wait, when there wasn't any alternative to this situation.
I was very disappointed with the service as I have been standing right at the entrance and there were even 2 different staffs that approached to check w me what I was waiting for, and I showed them the receipt. But none of them went to check and it took them more than 25 mins to realise that the order wasn't processed. As a result, I had to wait for more than an hour for the food to be ready.
After collecting the food, the staff still chased after me saying that they forgot to pack some food in. Truly unacceptable service and how they handled this...
