The drinks store's staff has the WORST service I have ever experienced in any eatery.
1st time: I asked for iced tea (teh o peng), one middle aged woman playing on her phone gave me a hot cup of tea without sugar instead. I thought: "Okay, nevermind, maybe she didn't hear me." Even though there was no other customer.
I told her this mistake nicely and she shouted at me that I didn't say exactly what I wanted. Tolerant, I said: "Okay, fine, no point arguing, I'll just get a cup of ice for this then." Then she begrudgingly made a cup of ice tea and handed it to me, telling me to pay for it.
I told her "I asked for a cup of ice, I already have the tea which I paid for. What is this for?"
She started shouting at me saying that I asked for ice tea, now she made my order and I don't want it?
All the while, she was distracted by her phone.
At this point, I told her that she isn't listening and I don't need two cups of tea for god's sake. But she kept on shouting that it's not her fault, in mandarin and slamming the teas on the table like a madwoman.
Ended up, I had two cups of tea that day - neither of which were what I ordered. 0/10 worst staffs ever. Btw I spoke in mandarin, which I am sure she understood - she just wasn't bothered to listen. It was a woman 40-50 in age bundled up hair, chinese, watch out for this one.
My family which were on the table nearby, saw ehat happened, and from that day on - we never bought drinks from 496 ever again.
I strongly urge everyone to boycott this drink store if you don't want to be treated badly like I did, I'd rather eat somewhere else and not be harassed by the staff for insanity on their part.
There are far better places to eat and drink less than 30m away, I'd rather have my meal without a cup of...
Read moreI would like to echo the sentiments of some reviewers here about the terrible service of the Drinks Stall lady. She has been extremely rude on multiple occasions.
Incident #1: I ordered Teh Bing from her. I was dining in. As she was preparing the drink, I took a straw from the counter and held it, wanting to put it in my cup once it was ready. She went BERSERK and shouted at me saying "放回去!!!!!!!!". Translation: "PUT IT BACK!!!!!!!" I was so shocked and I really thought that I was going to be arrested. The funniest part is that she eventually put a straw into my cup by herself.
Incident #2: Sadly as this is the only drinks stall here, I had no choice but to come back when I was in the vicinity. I ordered Kopi Bing this time around. It cost $1.70. Out of kindness, I decided to give her $10.70 to help her with the amount of coins she needed to return me as change. I placed the 70 cents (coins) on top of the $10 note and stretched out my hand to give it to her. For some reason, she SNATCHED the $10 note so quickly and forcefully as if she was trying to rob me. In doing so, the 70 cents worth of coins flew everywhere. She got so upset and GLARED at me for a good 5 seconds. Once again, I felt like I was going to be arrested.
How has she not offended the elderly uncles here who are not so tolerant of such behaviour? Or does she behave differently with...
Read moreHad dinner today at this eating place. The tray return station was fully packed. There was only one auntie clearing the racks and she was banging the plates and bowls loudly as she mumbled annoyingly. It was obviously a staff shortage situation.
In the past when tray return was not compulsory, people leave their used utensils and cutleries on the tables after their meals. Seeing a lack of dining space, most patrons will either eat at another coffee shop or opt for takeaway. This gives some time for the cleaners to clear up the tables.
Now that the tray return policy will take full effect in June, when diners clear their tables, more space are available for more people to dine in. However, there is not enough cleaners to clear the racks in time. This results in an awkward situation when people sheepishly wait for space on the racks to place their trays. I believe this is ongoing every meal peak hour in most eateries across the country.
I understand why the tray return policy was implemented. But if the clearing rate cannot surpass the returning rate, the cleaners suffer the most. Which is very unfair. Hopefully this problem can be rectified. Eatery owners, if you are reading this, spare a thought for these low wage workers. They are...
