TLDR: Even with the 'reasonable price', this place isn't worth it. Better off eating store bought pasta or pastamania. Only go if it's your last resort or everywhere else in Jewel has a 2 hour queue. The pictures in the menu is as good looking as most Influencers, 90% Photoshop and 10% reality.
Highly suspect the reviews here are fake, either that or the kitchen has serious quality control issues. Background: we went to jewel to specifically try this place out because of the reviews and small hype around it. My review will be broken into two parts, food and service.
We ordered the Caesar Salad ($9.50), Matcha Latte ($4.50), Half Burrata ($6.50), and Beef Oxtail Tortiglioni ($18.50).
The Caesar Salad was really bad and really magical. Its actually the first time I've had a place that could make worse Caesar salad dressing than NTUC. It was tasteless and watery, the lettuce reminds me of my days in NS, when it rained during our Outfield and we slept in shell scrapes full of water.
Matcha Latte is really really sweet kinda like ordering from Koi with a broken sugar dispenser. It came lukewarm, so for people who don't like to drink hot drinks this is perfect. But honestly save your money. Just bring 2 packs of Lipton Matcha Latte and fill 250ml of warm water, add 2 tablespoons of sugar and a touch of disappointment, you'll get the same result.
Half Burrata was by far the biggest mistake. It was really watery. Missed out pictures of this because it looked so bad. Think normal Burrata but with a sad face and slumped over it its own puddle of tears cause it just walked in on his partner having an affair. Tasted nothing like Burrata, in fact it tasted like nothing at all (it tasted so much like nothing, I went home to take an ART test to make sure I don't have COVID) again just go down to the Fairprice downstairs and buy a small ball of Burrata and bite into it yourself, it's going to taste the same and less sad.
Finally, it was the Beef Tortiglioni, the supposed redemption Arc of Mamma Mia's Anime. The first bite and I knew this was just another filler episode with literally no impact to the storyline and a ridiculous cliffhanger. It was salty (almost as salty as this review) and the pasta was real soft far beyond the point of Al Dente (surprisingly not mushy so 1 star for effort). The beef and sauce had this MSG filled taste, so cheap Chinese food lovers rejoice.
Now for service. We were seated relatively fast and the waitress was pleasant and patient. Unfortunately, the good service was overshadowed by how long it took the food to arrive. This would've been fine if the place was overcrowded or if the food came piping hot. We kindly reminded the staff after a 20 minute wait that our Tortiglioni still hadn't arrived to which she responded very patiently that it needed another 5 minutes.
Overall, this place isn't worth the attention. It really should be a last resort thing or if the sudden craving for Italian food hits you like a brick in jewel. Some suggestions for improvement would be to at least make sure the food is hot and the froth machine is actually heating the milk appropriately, or if this same standard is needed then lower the price to McDonald's or 7 Eleven quick...
Read moreI am writing to express my deep disappointment regarding the treatment I received at your Jewel outlet recently, particularly from a Chinese lady supervisor or manager on duty.
I am a mother of three young children, including a 3-month-old infant who is unable to sit on his own. As per the usual process, I lined up with my children and, when it was my turn, I politely informed one of your staff that I was willing to wait for a sofa seat so I could lay my baby down comfortably. The staff then called the supervisor over, and I asked her if I could leave my number and step next door briefly to distract my kids while waiting for the sofa seat to be available even if it takes more than usual. She refused, insisting that I had to continue waiting in line — which I accepted without issue.
However, when a seat became available, she led me to a table with four individual chairs right in the center of the busy outlet. I politely explained again that this seating arrangement would not work as I needed to have my stroller next to me since the sofa seat is unavailable. She bluntly said there were no other options, and insisted that I place my stroller awkwardly, blocking the pathway and between other seated customers table. She assured me that she will instruct no customers would be seated at the table behind us. To me it was inconvenient as there was a line waiting to eat as well.
Coincidentally, a group left a sofa seating area nearby shortly after. I once again politely asked if I could be seated there. Instead of allowing me to sit while she cleared the table, she curtly told me to wait. I stood there in the middle, carrying my 3-month-old baby, for about 8 minutes. When I approached her to ask if I could now sit down when she was done clearing, she responded with a loud, disrespectful "Chets!" and rolled her eyes at me while begrudgingly preparing the table.
I asked her directly if there was a problem, and instead of de-escalating the situation, she began arguing, accusing me of "asking too much" and "demanding" things — which is completely untrue. I made polite requests under difficult circumstances, trying to manage my three young children without causing inconvenience to others.
Her attitude was not only unprofessional but also completely lacking in compassion and understanding. I did my utmost to remain calm and respectful in front of my hungry children, but her responses and behavior made it impossible for me to even enjoy a simple meal with my family and had to leave. There was not even an apology and show me out.
I strongly urge you to review the CCTV footage from the time of the incident, as it will show clearly that I remained polite and reasonable throughout, and that her attitude and manner were completely inappropriate. Other customers around us witnessed the incident and can attest to my behavior as well.
I sincerely hope this is not the standard of service your establishment accepts. No customer — especially a mother struggling with small children — should be treated in such a rude and...

From the moment you arrive, you’re treated to beautiful views that enhance the entire experience. The restaurant’s outdoor seating allows diners to fully appreciate the spectacular surroundings, including the world-renowned Rain Vortex. The lush greenery and the sight of the cascading waterfall create a serene backdrop, making it the perfect place to unwind after a day of travel or shopping.
The ambience is warm and welcoming, with a rustic Italian vibe that harmonizes with the natural beauty of Jewel’s architecture. Dining outdoors gives you the chance to feel connected to nature while still enjoying the vibrant energy of the location. It’s an ideal spot for both casual gatherings and quiet, romantic meals, offering a balance between tranquillity and activity.
As for the food, while the atmosphere is impressive, the meal itself was alright. We explored the menu, which offers a range of Italian classics, and while the dishes were well-prepared, the flavours didn’t particularly stand out. The pasta, cooked al dente, had a decent texture, but it lacked the seasoning and richness that one might expect from authentic Italian cuisine. While not disappointing, the meal didn't leave a lasting impression, feeling more ordinary than extraordinary.
One area where Mamma Mia excels, though, is in service. The staff were friendly and attentive, adding a personal touch that made the dining experience more pleasant. They were quick to seat us, provided thoughtful menu recommendations, and checked in regularly to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. The warm and hospitable service definitely enhanced the overall experience, making us feel well cared for throughout the meal.
In summary, Mamma Mia Trattoria E Caffè is worth considering if you’re looking for a place with beautiful views and a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere. The food, while not exceptional, is decent, and the attentive service...
