At P.S. Cafe in Katong, my dining experience was a tale of two dishes with contrasting satisfaction levels. Tiger Beer-Battered Fish & Chips: This dish was underwhelming, particularly considering the $32 price tag. The portion of fish was disappointingly small, and the thick batter dominated the dish, overshadowing the fish itself — a letdown for enthusiasts of Fish & Chips. The shoestring fries served alongside were a highlight, crispy and well-seasoned, yet they couldn't compensate for the main's shortfall. Despite being presented with care on the plate, the dish did not live up to expectations, and I would hesitate to recommend it. Thai Caramelised Steak Salad: The salad, in contrast, was a delightful surprise. The combination of fresh greens and mango tossed in a zesty Thai sauce, complemented by the savoury crunch of dried shrimps, made for a refreshing mix that beckoned for more. The steak was another high point; tender and cooked to my preferred doneness, it was a joy in every bite. Although the presentation was modest compared to the Fish & Chips, the flavours packed a punch, proving that appearances aren't everything. The service at P.S. Cafe was commendable. It's rare to find attentive staff who continuously top up water without being prompted, and it’s even rarer to be served complimentary ice water infused with oranges, a refreshing touch that added to the experience. Despite the initial disappointment with the Fish & Chips, the stellar service and the Thai Caramelised Steak Salad's triumph are compelling reasons to return. I am still acquainting myself with the cafe and its offerings. The premium pricing of the menu is notable, but the service standard makes a repeat visit a tempting proposition. Attached, as proof of my visit, is the receipt detailing my meal.

Totally not pet-friendly, despite what you may read online. Most posts say small dogs are allowed in the mall (in prams) and can access cafés like PS.Café (level 1) or Mr Woof on Level 4. So we brought our dogs in a pram, thinking it was fine. We parked in the car park and managed to get to Level 1 — but there were no clear signs or pet-friendly lifts. You either take the escalator (unsafe with a pram) or wait awkwardly for the lift, getting death stares from people who dislike dogs. When we finally reached PS.Café at level 1, we were ushered out by the PS Café staff saying that we are NOT allowed to enter their restaurant through the mall entrance! We were asked to leave immediately and that we had to go outside the mall and re-enter their restaurant via the “outdoor” entrance… which was blocked by plants and barricades, and only accessible by stairs (no ramp!). How are people with prams (as required by the mall) supposed to get into the cafe through there? And if you allow dogs and only allow them to enter through your outside entrance, why are the entrances manually sealed off? This is showing that you obviously do not welcome dogs. To make it worse, the staff clearly didn’t like dogs — they were unhelpful, unfriendly, and dismissive. Katong is a neighbourhood full of pet owners; it’s baffling that a café here can be so unwelcoming. If you have pets, DON’T bother coming here. The “pet-friendly” label online is a joke. Honestly, PS Katong - Either be truly pet-friendly and accessible, or stop advertising that you are.

I was delighted to visit P.S. Cafe at Katong on 6 Sept with my kid. The environment immediately resonated with me - a pleasing fusion of colonial classic grace blended with a sprinkle of modern charm. It's the sort of establishment where one can relax and feel each day's strains dissolve away. Too bad I was just there for lunch and nothing longer. Despite the obvious hustle and motion, the team stayed attentive. Although there was only a brief delay for our orders to be prepared, the wait time seemed entirely justified because of the exceptional quality of the food that was eventually brought to our table. The smoky margherita pizza was a delightful treat, and while the simply seared barramundi entrée leaned toward the soupy side, the fish was perfectly cooked, firm and full of flavour. The Florida key lime pie was the lively conclusion my meal required, pairing wonderfully with my standard black coffee. However, the pièce de résistance was undoubtedly the towering basket of truffle shoestring potatoes, bountifully decorated with parmesan. The robust coffee drink added boldness as hoped, while the ice cream blended with Oreo cookies contributed silky sweetness to the food. Though P.S. Cafe may not be very cost effective, the experience, food quality and environment decidedly make up for the worth. The fusion between the plates and surroundings genuinely distinguish this spot. If contemplating a visit, I'd especially advise a weekday afternoon when the mood is rather tranquil.

I dont usually write reviews but this somehow deserves it. Came to the restaurant at 839pm and was greeted by this pinoy server. After i told her i have 2 dogs, she quickly told me table will only be available in 10 mins. However, She was still pleasant n nice to inform me that 9pm was the last order and they closed at 10pm. I told her i will checked with my hub and come back. I went back 845pm and told her yes i wld like to dine in ( outdoor with 3 adults and 2 dogs). I was quickly seated and not the 10 mins she told me initially wld be available. I ordered my food without any delay. However, I saw that pinoy whispering to a part-timer ( long hair chinese lady ) and that pt looked at us. Neverthless, that msian chinese server was extremely nice & helpful. Without any doubts, i give her 5 stars. However all was ruin when this short hair plump middle age server out of nowwhere came out and shouted “ we are close, we are close” with both her hands up in the air. She somehow commented to the part-timer “ if u dont do this, they will not leave. Omg!!! How awful was that! We werent even aware of the time. There were 2 tables left including us. No one came to notify us or at least inform us at the very least often i was told “ sorry mdm we will be closing in 5 or 10 mins.” This is probably the worst service i ever get this year and it has to be ps.cafe , an upscale restuarant. Absolutely disappointing. This lady either had a long and rough day or she hates her job. Sadly, i read some reviews over here also complaining abt this lady. Not forgetting a family beside my table asked for some forks when that short-hair lady served their meals. She heard them but did not respond and she turned her head and looking completely annoyed to be witnessed by me. Come on ps.cafe.! U can do better than this! Im fine paying $150 for my 1hr meal but defintely not being chased away like a pest. I...
