Sadly that I have to edit this review to reflect a recent visit and a trend I noticed lately. Since the tourists have been peaking up and the restaurant is getting busier. The service quality is getting worse. In last few weeks that we visited, they have been rushing customers out even though their food takes quite a long time to serve. Moreover, once in June, we were there with friends and family, met a very rude lady at counter when dealing with payment. She was so passive aggressive towards me when I simply asked how does the membership work. She could simply say that the email subscription is just to gather my personal information to send marketing emails. It’s not a membership with any benefit. Instead, she has embarrassed me asking what kind of membership I have, she doesn’t know whether I’m a staff member or Dempsey hill member or whatsoever. When I trying to clarify, she even brushed me off and ask me to stand aside to let her deal with other customers first whereas there was only our family and one customer standing around. She could have dealt with my clarification with simple answers and in a polite way instead of taking so long and ruin our mood. Very disappointed after this encounter and no longer recommending anyone to this place. Hope the management could see this and make a change in educating how staff can handle queries better.
The food quality and taste are constantly nice. Staff used to be friendly and attentive. It’s one of our staple dining options at Dempsey hill. They also update their menu time to time. The indoor dining area is nicely cooled with spacious seating. However, it is quite noisy during weekend peak hours. Overall, we like this place and often bring home chocolates and cheese...
Read moreGood food and great coffee. amazing variety for vegetarians and also has options for those with an inclination for Indian fare. Probably one of the only places in SG that executes amazing Huevos Rancheros and Eggs Benny and at the same time nails Chole kulcha and Samosa !! Have been here twice before. Sundays have a big queue so better to reserve. We reserved for 11 but reached at 1030 so had to take the long communal table. We ordered Huevos Rancheros, Smashed avo on Sweet potato. Both were amazing, flawless in taste. The tortilla was so fresh and soft and the Huevos Rancheros was so flavorful. The sauce, the jalapenos, the tomatos came together in a nice medley of flavors. Smashed avo was a creative twist, replacing the bread with sweet potato.
We followed up with Oatmilk avocado matcha and Oatmilk capuccino. Oat cap was heavenly. It was so awesome I ordered one more. Also ordered a croissant - super crispy and flaky !!
For dessert we had dark chocolate pot with cookie crumble. My wife loved the dessert, I liked the chocolate, cookie crumble was okayish.
There were some hiccups in service but the manager there apologized to us and also gave us the dessert and croissant free so I'm not complaining. What's important is they realized they are letting us down and made amends immediately. They also have an interesting array of chocolates, coffee, breads and bakery items like spreads, sauces. I'll definitely come here again to try more of...
Read moreI stayed behind after a business trip in Singapore. My destination? Dempsey Hill—a place I first visited at least 10 years ago. I’ve always loved the vibes and ambiance, so I couldn’t resist returning.
The Dempsey Project is an intriguing concept that combines a high-end grocery store with a Western restaurant. Intrigued by the menu, I decided to indulge.
The duck confit caught my eye, but as it would take some time to prepare, I started with the French onion soup to warm myself up (it’s a rainy day in Singapore, come On) The soup was absolutely amazing—rich, flavorful, and comforting. When the duck confit arrived, it did not disappoint. Paired with a green salad, the dish was beautifully cooked and full of flavor.
The portion size was generous—so much so that I couldn’t finish the main course. If you’re planning to order appetizers or desserts, I’d recommend sharing the main dish.
One unique aspect of The Dempsey Project that I’m eager to try next time is their steak service. You can select a steak from their grocery section and have it prepared for you in the restaurant. Definitely adding that to my list for future visits!
Overall, The Dempsey Project is a wonderful spot for a cozy meal with great food, ambiance, and a unique concept. Highly...
