Come here for the food, don’t come for the service. If you remove the service, probably close to 5 stars. Good food here.

Started off on the right foot as we were seated to a table pretty much as soon as we arrived. For 12 pm, really awesome. They let me know to order at the counter when we were ready. Still good.

Approached the counter where another patron was scanning the menu and deciding; instead of taking the next order they allowed them to decide. Not a big deal but a tad irritating considering others in line were clearly ready to order. People started to bunch up so the till asked us to line up but not in the order that people showed up but a completely different order and continued to allow the person in front to take their time to scan the menu. Not impressed. Move them aside? Order was finally taken but that was not the best impression. Either better signage or the host should pay more attention to their patrons by the host at the till.

Went back to my seat and was approached by another worker that their espresso machine stopped working and whether I wanted to change to another beverage or if I wanted a refund. I elected for a refund and a glass of water. He told me to go up to the front to process the refund. Fine. Went up the till only to be told that they have no ability to process refunds as they are a cashless store. I’m all for cashless, I rarely carry it but to advertise that you are cashless but have no ability to refund money to your clients for mistakes or inconveniences is down right wrong. Now maybe I missed a sign in front that explicitly says that we don’t process refunds, order at your own risk. But I still found this cost saving measure, to not pay for this service, to be unacceptable. Another server came by to ask if I had paywave, but being a visitor it isn’t something that I had and definitely not something I’m going to sign up for, for $5. No further attempts were made for service recovery. They didn’t pay us any more attention or try to give us an extra dessert to “make it right”.

Our food arrived and it was great. Laksa pasta was tasty and not too jelak. The rosti was tasty and brimmed with truffle aroma. Awesome.

We finished our entrees and waited for the dessert. I looked around and wondered if we needed to go up to the counter to get our dessert by ourselves. We sat close to the kitchen, I was quite tempted to ask the chef myself through the window. I finally was able to flag down a waiter who promptly checked on the dessert and it arrived. Again. Food? Delicious.

We left shortly thereafter. They thanked us for our patronage but no apologies for this debacle. I’m not sure I would come back or recommend this place to anyone I know. Clearly their system is not catered towards foreigners or to them making mistakes or any unforeseen circumstances as they have no service recovery protocols to speak of....

Food; ( they changed their menu from years ago )

Basic B: Toast is awesome, scambled eggs ain’t watery enough, sausage & bacon too oily & not crispy.

Smoked Brats Rosti: Sunny side up is cooked perfectly, rosti is extremely oily, feels jelak after awhile.

$5 Extra Bacon: A whole plate of oily bacon, non crispy.

Matcha Latte: 4/5

Ice Chocolate: 4/5

Spent a total of $61+ for 2 pax.

Takeaway: 30 cents extra so if you can’t finish your food & you wanna take away you have to pay extra. So do prepare an extra container if you wanna save money.

Eco Friendly Factors: They provide Dine-In Cups at random or upon request, their sauce holder has been changed to small metal cups instead of plastics, unlike years ago.

Ambience: Non Cafe vibe so if you are looking for a cafe to study / work or to take instagram pictures then no this is not for you. Indoor seatings are very noisy as everyone is trying to talk with limited cafe space. Outdoor can be quite hot and humid even tho theres ceiling fans.

Price: $$$, alittle expensive but considered slightly better as compared to other cafes right now.

Staff Service: Extremely friendly & helpful staff despite the crowd & stress they still try their best to put on a smile. Feel like they deserve a pay raise.

Cafe Demand: Cafe is very small, cannot accomodate to the demand. Often have to queue. Used to have a standard queue but now you just go in at random which is pretty bad bc you don’t know where exactly does the queue start.

Kitchen closes for more than 1 - 2 hours because they have too many backlog orders but they can’t fufil them, however their drinks & pastries are still available.

Alot of things are sold out in their menu & they will indicate on the board outside, however sometimes they still run out of things and do not have the time to update the board so please check with the staff before you order or confirm seating. ( So you can backout before commiting to wait )

Food can take up to 1 hour to arrive your table, if you can’t wait, can go to the taiwanese cafe next door.

Accesiblity: No Parking so you have to park at textile centre. Not wheelchair friendly unless you sit outside.

Inclusiveness: Not much vegan option & no gluten...

Tolido's Espresso Nook is a hidden gem for brunch enthusiasts. The cozy atmosphere, complete with rustic decor and comfortable seating, sets the stage for a delightful dining experience.

Menu Highlights The brunch menu offers a variety of options, from classic dishes to unique creations. The avocado toast is a standout, perfectly ripe avocados on artisanal bread, topped with poached eggs and a sprinkle of chili flakes for a bit of heat. The French toast is another must-try, generously dusted with powdered sugar and served with fresh berries and maple syrup.

For those looking for something heartier, the breakfast burrito is packed with flavor, combining scrambled eggs, cheese, and your choice of protein wrapped in a warm tortilla. Don’t forget to pair your meal with their specialty coffee; the espresso is rich and aromatic.

Service The staff is friendly and attentive without being intrusive. They are knowledgeable about the menu and quick to offer recommendations. The service is efficient, making it a great spot even if you’re in a hurry.

Atmosphere The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, with plenty of natural light pouring in. It’s an ideal place for catching up with friends or enjoying a quiet moment with a book.

Overall, Tolido's Espresso Nook delivers a fantastic brunch experience. With its delicious menu, attentive service, and charming atmosphere, it's a spot worth visiting. Whether you're a coffee aficionado or just in for a hearty meal, Tolido's is...
