Restavracija Cool House — Restaurant in Upravna Enota Ljubljana

This review is for the Coolhouse online shop, and by extension the whole company.

Their website is VERY misleading. You can order some gourmet foods and everything looks delicious, and they even offer free delivery if you order more than 80 euros' worth. The website will cheerfully take your money. But then, if you don't happen to live in Ljubljana, you'll get an email saying they don't deliver to your town and you have to go to them to pick up your stuff. They don't ACTUALLY deliver outside Ljubljana even though their website leads you to believe they do. I don't know how they are legally allowed to take customers' money under such false pretenses, but they do.

As a person with a severe mobility impairment who lives more than an hour away by train, I can't just pop off to the capital city on a lark. I ordered delivery because that is what I needed. So I can't buy anything from these people at all. They've offered to return what I paid, but that doesn't compensate me for the time, effort and aggravation they have caused. And as a general principle, I cannot recommend any company that presents itself in such a dishonest way.

It is not okay to discriminate against customers who don't live in Ljubljana and waste our time and money. I can't recommend this shop or the restaurant attached to it because of the bad impression this experience has left with the whole company. Even if you do live in Ljubljana, please support the rest of us and don't buy from Coolhouse until they decide to start treating every customer equally.

Edited to add: there is a reply claiming that the restaurant and the online shop are different businesses. I have no proof of that, but they share the same web presence and branding. So if I have a bad experience with one, then yes, it should affect the reputation of the other. If they have no relationship they should not be sharing a brand. Secondly, my honest review isn't hurting Cool House or their workers. Readers of these reviews deserve all sides of the story. They can make up their minds what to believe. Negative reviews do happen. Credible negative reviews hold businesses accountable for negative experiences, and businesses should not try to manipulate those reviews or get them taken down because that interferes with free speech. Ok … so I’ve never done this before. Read on for info!

We found this place by looking at the review images and being intrigued by this dish capped with bread that looked amazing.

The prior night we’d had dinner at a place where the waiter was really rude, sat behind the bar drinking, and made it clear he’d wanted to go home early and we were a nuisance.

Flash forward to next night and dinner at the Cool House. Live music is playing outside, we’ve missed lunch so we are hungry, and we get seated.

The staff was SO nice. They were very busy and still took the time to offer suggestions, ideas for things to see or do locally etc.

#1 finding an IPA beer in Slovenia is not an easy thing to do (guess what, they have a local IPA and Pale Ale beer option here!!)

Then the food came and it tasted fantastic, full of flavor, everyone was so happy.

Our server was Masha, we seriously all wanted to adopt her the sweetest person, really adorable.

So the next day we explore Lake Bled, we are looking at other eating options on our return drive to Ljubljana… here’s the thing I never do or have done prior… we went back again!! We had such a great experience we all agreed we didn’t want to miss out on the option for a second amazing meal.

I got the steak salad this time, the steak is thinly cut in ribbons and warmed (yum yum yum). We updated Masha on our day, the experience felt like family :)

Thanks for sticking through with this long review but we just had the best time!

Oh also the live music is only occasionally, just to set reasonable expectations!

Now where can you eat proper breakfast at 8? I was there in the neighborhood, so I just gave it a try. Honestly I wasn’t expecting a great meal for a place that call themselves “Coolplace”, it sounded like a tourist trap dive bar in a tropical beach! Just kidding! This place was far from it! 😂

The time was 8:10, I was expecting that they would say that the kitchen was closed or whatever and I can only order a croissant or a toast! But I was pleasantly impressed that the waiter told me that the oven was already running and I can order a four cheese pinsa! It was ready in minutes, more like a Neapolitan pizza than a pinsa in my opinion! The portion was huge and it was delicious! Too bad my stomach couldn’t welcome this big portion so early in the morning.. so I finished half of it, drank my espresso and pay..
