Valentine’s Day is totally ruined because of this restaurant. If you can’t manage these many tables, then don’t open up these many tables? Similar to other patrons on Valentine’s Day, we also had a negative experience.
Firstly, our reserved time slot is 8.30pm (which is the second seating they offered), we reached at 8.20pm but only seated at 9.10pm. Their policy indicates that our table would only be reserved for 15min but it seems that they don’t honour their own policy. They told us at 8.20pm that we will only have to wait for 10-15min as the couple of the previous seating was still at their table and were told to walk around the roof top bar, which does not make sense as the patrons of the bar were seated at their seats and it’s awkward to just walk around people’s table. So we just hung around at the lift lobby for 15min as we understand that we were slightly early. We then check back at 8.35pm, and were told that the couple was still at the table and now they escorted us to a seat at the rooftop bar. When questioned, they just say that the couple is still at the table and they do not seem like they are going to do anything to resolve this issue. I don’t understand how is this a legitimate excuse as your restaurant planned the timings of the 2 seatings, your team should have a plan to resolve this issue (seems like a common and likely situation to happen)? We then waited for 35min before being escorted to our table. They don’t seem to be apologetic at all and offered no service recovery as well. We were just blindly waiting there.
Secondly, when we are seated, we noticed that the table cloth is not clean, felt like they just reuse the table cloth from the previous seating and hope that we don’t noticed? Please check out the image, how can this not be noticed? At this point, we were like “whatever”, not expecting much anymore after the long wait.
Thirdly, as the courses were being served, we can hear the service staffs just shouting across the restaurant to prompt other staffs to clear the tables. Seems like one whole group of new trainees. The service was also very slow, similar to what other reviewers wrote, we ate dinner from 9.10pm till 11pm+? Who eats the main course at 11pm? It’s so slow that the whole dinner was not enjoyable and we were just hoping for the dishes to arrive so that we can leave ASAP. Also, the main course (beef), was not even slightly warm, more like room temperature which felt like it was left there for a long while before serving.
Overall, very poor service and totally spoilt the whole dining experience that we were looking forward to. At this price point and location, this was totally unacceptable. 0 service recovery and we can tell that the other patrons were also tired of waiting (one of the couples just left halfway through the service). And thankfully, this is not our first date, if not I don’t know what contingency or back up restaurant we can visit on this day when it’s...
Read moreFood: truffle risotto was not bad, tomino cheese wrapped in parma ham was nice but it's hard to go wrong with that. carbonara was good and I like that they use guanciale. Lamb shoulder was pretty good - large serving and we even packed some home. It was tender and flavorful. Josper grilled veal was bad. I know veal has a light flavour but this veal was absolutely tasteless. It was moist and tender but bland as heck. No seasoning and the tiny bit of sauce didn't help at all. Waste of a Josper grill for the veal to end up tasting like it was boiled plain. The veal sides were ok and much needed. Tiramisu was ok.
Drinks: the bartender should not tend bar. we had 2 signature cocktails and an Irish coffee. The Amalfi Afterglow cocktail just tasted like strong lemonade and nothing else. The Coastal Paradise frozen cocktail was basically a cordial slushie, super sweet and nothing else. Cocktails had no balance or kick. The Irish coffee was basically iced coffee with some liquor. Totally not what one would expect when you say Irish coffee and we certainly did not ask for ice. Between us and the waitress, it was 100% clear we ordered Irish coffee not iced coffee.
Service: manager kindly offered to take the not-irish-coffee off our bill when we brought it to his attention. Waitress and manager were very kind and friendly. We had asked to refill an empty after glass and waitress forgot and we had to ask again 10 minutes later. When we were ready for dessert, we were informed that the kitchen had already closed. I've never been to a restaurant that doesn't do a last call and ask you if you want dessert / last order before they close the kitchen! We should've been told. Manager came to apologise and offered to see what they could give us for dessert and we agreed. Turns out they had Tiramisu that they could give us and we each had one serving. Appreciated that they also brought out a small slice of red velvet cake with a candle for birthday celebration. The cake was average. It's not on the menu so I somewhat understand.
We had a late dinner so it was very empty, just us and maybe 2 other tables. For a practically empty restaurant I didn't expect that they'd forget to refill water when explicitly asked, and forget to take last orders. We didn't check / keep the receipt but I think we were charged for all 3 Tiramisu and probably not the Irish coffee based on the roughly remembered total amount paid. Also i threw it all up about 3h after the meal. Didn't ingest anything in between and no physical activity besides driving home. This is not normal for me. Make of that what you will but the rest of my family is fine. 2 stars for friendly service and nice manager, and good...
Read moreA truly unforgettable experience for Valentine’s Day.
Our rooftop dining experience reserved at 8:30PM, began with high hopes, ended in profound disappointment. What should have been an elegant evening was marred by a series of oversights that highlighted a fundamental lack of care.
An Allergy Overlooked: The amuse bouche, served at 8:36 pm, contained uni—an ingredient my wife is allergic to. Despite informing the staff in advance, they dismissed the allergy and assured us it was safe. This blunder exposed a troubling disregard for guest safety, undermining trust in the establishment.
Neglect in the Face of a Drizzle: After a 45-minute wait, the first course still hadn’t arrived when the sky began to drizzle. We notified the staff, but their inaction spoke volumes about their lack of preparedness. No one stationed outside to assist, and our meal was delayed until 9:21 pm, leaving us to wonder whether anyone truly cared about our experience.
A Silent, Lonely Wait: As we waited for the second course, numerous staff members passed by without offering so much as a glance. Roses were handed out late, and we were left in the dark, thinking our dish was imminent, but time stretched on with no updates, no connection.
A Forgotten Request: At 9:55 pm, when we could bear it no longer, we sought answers from the staff. The response was yet another vague promise: “Just a minute more.” We had grown hungry and weary of waiting, as the evening we envisioned had become a drawn-out ordeal.
Recognition of Failure: At 10:05 pm, a bartender noticed our empty tables and, assuming we had finished, was startled to learn we hadn’t even received the second course. His attempt to salvage the situation came too late, as the damage had already been done.
Subpar Food at Last: The second and third courses arrived at 10:19 and 10:21 pm, respectively. But the meal, like the service, had deteriorated. Ravioli was cold, cod was off-putting, and the beef was mushy—leaving us to wonder how a kitchen could mismanage such a simple task.
The evening unfolded as a series of disappointments, where a lack of attention to detail and a failure to honor basic expectations turned what should have been a memorable experience into a cautionary tale. It was a night defined not by the food or setting, but by an undeniable lack of care.
A sincere thanks to the restaurant, for offering the three couples gathered for rooftop dining the unexpected gift of shared laughter, as we collectively reflected on the regrettable decision to...
