The Bloemhof Grill and Guesthouse — Restaurant in Bellville

Probably won’t ever eat here again. I’ve had many enjoyable experiences at the restaurant but today was just unacceptable. Myself boyfriend, myself and a friend went for dinner and ordered the same dish, the chicken schnitzel. One with cheese sause and the other with pepper and mushroom sause. The waiter took our orders and repeated it back to us to make sure it was correct. When we received the food, the cheese schnitzel came back correct but both the pepper and mushroom dishes were chicken strips. My boyfriend told the waiter that this was not what he and his friend had ordered and the waiter got extremely offensive. My boyfriend told the waiter it was fine but he was not happy with the service and things should be properly communicated to the kitchen and waiters. In the next minute or so the table next to us also received the wrong food from the same waiter. My boyfriend then decided that it should be escalated to a manager as this was just very poor service. He was then told that the manager was on brake and would not be taking any queries from customers. This resulted in my boyfriend having to reorder his dish, still pay full price for everything, nothing was resolved nor did anyone take accountability for the level of unprofessionalism. The food was great as always. The thing I am truly upset about is the service. We came to eat for my birthday. We had 3 or 4 different waiters so we did not even know who was our table's waiter. Not one of the 3 or 4 waiters introduced them to the table like a waiter should. When the bill came my mother told him the amount and paid. He then proceeded to call her back just to say "a tip would be nice". This waiter was very arrogant and had a ugly attitude towards us and other customers the entire time. That is why I think he does not deserve a tip for the way he acted. He completely disgusted me for the way he talked to my mother and the way he was serving us. If I was there when this took place I would've said something but i was in the bathroom which had a completely open window. Anybody could have seen into the toilet. We had to ask him twice for takeaways and 4 time for an extra garlic and cheese sauce also for take away. It took us almosr 30 mins to get what we asked for. They weren't even busy at all so there is no excuse for them taking so long to get something as simple as takeaway baskets and a extra garlic and cheese sauce. This is close to Tygervalley centre,the food portions and options are top notch. It's not fine dining but who cares about that when you have amazing food with great service. Sometimes you can catch one of the owners playing the piano. Most of the seating is outside but they do have heaters and some fires going. For those that prefer indoor eating there are two rooms inside the main guest house for intimate gatherings. Restaurant, pub-like feel. Good specials on drinks and they do corkage. We visit all year round, summer time you have to book as this place as this place is a favourite go to on warm days. Things to order: Chicken strips and chips (you are in for a nice surprise 🫢) Full portion of Eisbein served with baked pumpkin pie and cream of spinach with chips 😋.
