Absolutely appalling behaviour from your front desk staff.
We ordered a meal off Mr D as we could not get through to your 748 number. Living in Beacon Bay for the many years Spur has always been our go to place for a breakfast or Rib fix. Except this time around we couldn't sit in and enjoy our meal as I was riddled with a cold and flu.
However our yearning for Ribs was still no. 1 priority hence the ordering online for collection. Mr D confirmation said to collect @ 19:36. We arrived shortly after that time and upon arrival my fiance abided by obvious protocol which is to state hes collecting a delivery which was ordered via Mr D . He gave the correct reference and proof that it had been paid via Card online.
One lady told him to state his exact order, which he did. She said she has to go to the kitchen to confirm what hes just stated (order). While she was away another lady came from the kitchen area and interrogated him and said repeat your order, doesn't introduce herself as to what her position is or why he ought to repeat his order for the 2nd time???
After some time and having repeated the order as per lady 2's request the 1st lady returns with 2 containers in her hand. A hospitality appealing container in which blue cheese sauce for our wings was inside in the other hand she had a coffee cup, which was strange. Upon getting back to my fiance after she simply said " kukho umntu ongamenzanga umsebenzi wake apha " (it appears someone didn't do their job correctly. And she said to him the other sauce is in the coffee cup. Note lady 2 and lady 1 both standing infront of a customer that has done what is expected on his side in order to receive a service and product accordingly from your establishment, yet not single one of them had the etiquette or manners to realise that perhaps at this point an apology is needed.
Once she had handed the sauce over to my fiance she simply walked behind the front desk and reached for a brown spur takeaway bag which had been sitting there from the moment my fiance walked in to collect our food. Our biggest concern is that we have been supporting this establishment for over 5 years and on MANY a-times we have recieved knarley service from grumpy waiters, incorrect orders and poor hospitality and restaurant etiquette however we still come back regardless. We hope that this review will reach out to the owner and they will attend to the poor service their staff have to offer at times. It does not make sense why the order was not checked by lady 1 when my fiance said the order in the 1st place especially if there was already a take away bag up at the front .... ?? Clearly that's an indication for a collection so one would assume your staff are trained to be attentive respectful and prompt to their customers and one ought to also apply their own discretion and perhaps just check what's in the bag and does it collorate with the Mr D order and the order repeated by customer WHICH HAS ALREADY BEEN PAID FOR and should appear on your stores pay point system ?????? Surely
However we are left baffled as to what the whole point of 2 confirmations was whilst the food stood at the front desk getting cold. ???
We left your establishment at 19:52 and arrived home (which is merely a 3 to 4 minute drive to Bonza , South of Beacon Bay) to dish up COLD DRY CARDBOARDY BLAND chips. COLD yet succulent and well basted ribs and over grilled COLD buffalo wings. With an unappealing disgustingly looking DUNKY sauce in a coffee cup ????? W One would not even be able to see if its clean as opposed to the see-through container the Blue cheese sauce came in...
We are highly disappointed and have told ourselves we will not return to Spur Beacon Bay unless some drastic changes are made relating to attitude, which has been mentioned in few reviews already.And if you would like to know...the drive back to come and complain at the chances of being humiliated and disrespected by your staff just was not worth it.
