My very first visit was on a public holiday (Freedom Day). It was nice that my children and I could cycle there through Delta Park, and park our bicycles in their dedicated Bicycle area. If you bring your own lock, they actually have chains already secured to the bicycle racks for the saftey of your bicycle (But not that we needed it, it was within a fenced area and quite safe already!).

In terms of the restaurant, it's a fantastic location, but by the time we arrived, which was around lunchtime, there wasn't a single table available to the four of us. And we were told ny Alan, the manager, that it would take at least an hour before we could be seated. We were prepared to wait, but there was no dedicated area for us to sit and do so. There was also no formal waiting list to put down our name and contact number once a table became available. So unless you actually kept standing and waiting at the entrance, it was left to chance whether you would be the next patron to be seated. I do think this could do with some more thought.

So, I chose to go and wait in the children's outdoor play area, while the kids got to play a bit. But there was also no available seating for adults, within the children's play area, and it cost R20 per child to enter. It appears it's run as a micro-business. But it is a lovely play area, and it is very well supervised by a number of ladies, and even came stocked with a first aid kit (which came in very handy, since my son needed some patching to his knee!)

After quite a lengthly wait, we managed to get a table in the restaurant, and were lucky enough to get seated on the outside deck area, which has a bit of a view towards the river which borders on Delta Park. But the service was terribly slow, and after being seated, we were eventually brought menus around ten minutes later! Luckily for us, Alan the manager on duty, noticed us and made sure to serve us with our drinks.

We chose to have pizzas, which were very well prepared and were ready in a relatively short time! Which was welcome, considering how busy and distracted our waiter Moses was! We finished off the meal with a couple of scoops of Vanilla Ice-cream each, which was very tasty and most welcome!

Overall it was a good experience, and I would recommend it to family...

Dear owners and managers.

I have been disappointed with the quality lately, and after giving the food another chance, I have to change my 5 star rating to a 1 star until I see some improvement.

Today we had the chicken Prego and fried chicken burger. Chicken was far too tough on both and it tasted like they were both smothered in margarine. Definitely not worth the increased prices. The chips are always very disappointing, frozen-type chips that don't align with the meal prices either.

Pizza most times I have had it (like 4 of 5 times) comes out soggy. With a pizza oven I would expect better. Very disappointing.

Issues like this tend to point towards poor management or owner's inability to accept criticism and attempt to change. Overall I would not recommend, which is a pity as the venue is absolutely fantastic.

In fact from having a look at other reviews, you can see that the owner cannot take feedback and always thinks they are right. This attitude is the downfall of most restaurants. Hope you have a change of attitude and start listening to customers that know better than you!

Honestly I am shocked! The way you reply to customers on here is DISGUSTING! Check your ego before you crash...

A few weeks ago I complained about the high chairs - I later understood that due to recent renovations, the existing high chairs didn’t fit the new tables. I was pretty angry about this until one of the staff members, Theo, listened to my argument, and calmly told me he understood and committed to ensuring the they would be replaced. To be honest, I didn’t expect much because it has sadly become a rarity to have ones concerns addressed. Needless to say, we went again 2 weeks later with our 1 year old and there were multiple new, beautiful high chairs! Thank you so much for not only listening but for the extreme professionalism and just human care that your staff has shown each time we have visited. I wish you could all be replicated and implanted in every...

First time at Delta Cafe and I was pleasantly surprised by the size and comfort of the cafe. It’s got a beautiful outdoor seating area overlooking the park, with horses right next door … nature box ticked. The food on the other hand is only “ok”. The cardinal sin was the smallest milkshakes my family has ever seen, although it’s not indicated like that on the menu. The chocolate cake was also pretty dry, but ironically a massive slice (considering the small milkshakes). The hazelnut pancakes were the best, but could have benefited from a scoop of icecream on the side. Didn’t try any of the savoury food so can’t comment on that.

Situated within what I would gather is a former greenhouse or possibly even modeled on one, provides your dining experience with great views of the park, nursery and other businesses on this site. This lends much to the relaxed country vibe. Breakfast choices are concise, well prepared and tasty. I was pleasantly surprised that they didn't charge the same prices as the establishments in neighbouring suburbs ( I'm looking at you, Parkhurst). It's very kid and doggo friendly, which can exasperate the staff I can imagine, but everyone is super friendly and helpful.

Lekker spot for an outdoor meal. People are friendly, and the place is full of real plants and trees. We need more of that in restaurants instead of the plastic ones we see nowadays. Choices include Sourdough Pizza, Pasta, Croissants, among other options too. Some craft beer available on tap as well.Only criticism I have is I think the menus can use a bit of love. A black and white A4 print feels like its a hostel of sorts? No need for fancy laminated ones but a splash of colour or a logo won't do harm.
