Nestled in a quiet road next to Delta Park and a mere stone's throw away from the hustle and bustle of Sandton, lies this small boutique winery where you can enjoy the peace, quiet and hospitality shielding you from the constantly-on-the-move outside world.
On offer at the tasting is an impressive selection of five exquisite wines which you can pair with Cape olives or Wagyu biltong. However, the Cheese board, which includes four delectable types of cheeses, a sweet yet spicy relish, sour dough bread from Delta Cafe and the most wonderful mushroom pate you will ever have the pleasure of enjoying, works well to compliment each wine beautifully.
The attentive service at Gerakaris Family Wines is truly exceptional and the knowledgable staff will guide you through your tasting experience with ease, offering bits of information on the origin of the grape and how their wine making process works in the middle of Johannesburg. The peaceful front and back garden seating area surrounded by lush greenery provides the perfect setting to relax and unwind.

Read moreDuring our stay in Johannesburg, my wife and I had the opportunity to visit Gerakaris, located in Randburg. It was a memorable experience! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the staff, who made us feel welcome and ensured our visit was pleasant from the start. The atmosphere of the place was both refined and relaxed, which greatly contributed to the overall ambiance of the day.
We particularly enjoyed the wine tasting, which went very smoothly. The explanations were detailed and informative, allowing us to discover local wines of excellent quality, perfectly suited to our tastes. The sommelier took the time to guide us through each wine, enhancing the experience.
In addition to the tasting, the setting was exceptional. The surrounding landscape was absolutely beautiful, with a stunning view that provided a sense of calm and serenity. The venue itself, well-designed and decorated, created the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing and enjoyable time together.
In summary, we had an excellent time at Gerakaris, both for the quality of the wines and the beauty of the location. It’s a place I highly recommend to anyone visiting...
Read moreThis place is really an insult to other wineries. Yes, different people like different wines but our party of 10 really hated 4/5 wines presented to us on that day. The first 2 smelt like bile and sulphur bring down the mood right there and then. After that we knew that this was going to be downhill experience. After a wine tasting, as a customer you should feel like you would want to purchase one of their bottles but honestly I just wanted to just get out of that sad excuse for a winery
The service was terrible and I often made to felt like i was inconveniencing the ladies who worked there. Another thing, if you are a wine-maker and dont know how to answer basic questions about your own wine that is a big red flag. Simple thing like "what would this pair with?" or "what varieties of grapes were used?" should be easy for wine makers who actually have a passion for producing a decent bottle of wines.
I recommend giving this one a miss and going to TOPS.... at least you can get some pairing info on the back of the wine bottle and actually drink...
