We went there for brunch on a Sunday. It was fairly busy with probably three quarters of the tables occupied. We sat outside because Covid, and it was a sunny day.

We had a haloumi breakfast and a crispy potato breakfast. The haloumi was done to a T - not burnt, not greasy, not rubbery - just perfect! The accompanying hummus was tasty and fresh.

My crispy potato breakfast with triple cooked potatoes was fantastic! I should have ordered another one to take home. Perfectly crisp potato cubes, with red onion and ginger which worked well together. I could eat the teriyaki bacon every day! The poached eggs were lovely: firm outside, runny inside.

And to top it all off, the service was incredibly fast. I doubt if we waited more than 10 minutes from placing our order to it being served.

There was also mellow live music: a saxophonist and a keyboard player. Never too loud, never obtrusive, the cherry on the top of a great brunch!

Kudos...

We always enjoy visiting Cnr Cafe, their food is generally great and the ambience is relaxing. This time was a little different, I ordered hake & chips and it arrived tasting a lot more fishy than I know hake to be and also over-cooked. I went to discuss this with the manager and asked him to taste the fish to ascertain if it was the way they normally prepare it or not. He basically shooed me away. I went back to my table and he arrived not too long afterwards telling us that he had taken it off the bill and didn't need to taste it as he would take my word for it. An acknowledgement of the quality, whether good or bad, was what I wanted confirmation on, but ultimately never got. The overall experience of any restaurant includes the manner in which they handle complaints or queries. This was an extremely disappointing experience for my partner and I who live around the corner, we would prefer to find alternate options...

Discrimination is served here. We ordered our food, and later, a couple and single person comes in, order AND got their food before us. We asked what's taking so long because we arrived and ordered prior to the other parties. As we're STILL waiting for our food, the couple who came in AFTER us and got their food before us was able to ALSO receive their extra take-away meals BEFORE us. I told them we are leaving and to bring us the bill for the cappuccinos we drank AND FINALLY they came with our food. I refused and they offered our food to take-away that I also refused. So glad I refused because the exact food I ordered was ordered by someone's husband who got food poisoning from it. Trash Establishment. Trash Service. Trash Food. We left and went to another restaurant that had great food and absolutely...

The one thing they could Improve is their coffee, it goes from average to bad very easily. I have skipped this place often because of that. However, It is one of the very few restaurants in the city that consistently has good and fast service, consistently has fresh ingredientes, and consistently has good flavors. The waiters are attentive from when you get there. The food portions are generous, (e.g. a Sarmie is actually two normal size sandwiches). The outside area is one of the best for having breakfast and that doesn’t feel tacky (which can easily happen in this city). When it is too crowded the service can get a slow, but not in a terrible way. It is VERY dark inside, but nothing to cry about. The burgers, hummus breakfast, any of the sarmies or pastas are a good choice.

Met a friend for a light lunch. It was delightful in the outdoor area. I enjoyed a delicious bao bun with chicken and mushroom (substitute for bacon). My friend enjoyed her haloumi and avo sandwich on seeded bread. It’s strange but the Fanta Orange was perfect, icy cold on a hot Spring Day. The latte was perfect. It is slightly irritating to have to try and get the attention of waitstaff. They are great while taking orders and serving food but we had to literally ask for service to refresh our drinks and to get the bill.

Was chasing for Italian cuisine to suite my daughters choice but got more than that. Ambience is average - busy and can be noisy. From our experience service is excellent- food is as good as explained on the menu. We are small eaters so just did mains and we were happy with no complaints. I just appreciated how the menu catered for gluten free options. Ambience - average Food - yum Service - - excellent Pricing - affordable HIGHLY RECOMMEND if you not fussy - all dishes were good
