It's women's month. What is a Goddess you asking? A woman who is in the process to Know, Accept and Love herself on ALL levels as per Goddess Cafe Southdowns

If you want to be in celebration mode then this is the place to be. Yes it's very girly and yes it's Pink and Flowers everywhere. I took my sister there for her birthday breakfast, never seen so many birthdays and bridal showers happening at the same time. The place is huge, and has many sub sections for private functions, even upstairs. The waiters and waitresses are pretty organized with all the functions going on. Our waiter Austin was great 👍🏼.

I noted on arrival they sell the ready made meals from Villa San Giovanni Restaurant I've been there once to enjoy their Pizzas and met the family, and the Father who recently passed away 😔.

For breakfast I had the Smoked Salmon Rosti (Corguette, Onion and Potato cake with 40g Salmon, Yoghurt dukkha, basil, cilantro, rocket with a poached egg, pickled beet and smashed Avocado) , and my sis had the Smashed Avocado on butter fried sourdough toast with extra Chicken and Pink Hummus (as well as coriander, parsley, red onion, chilli and lemon topped with crumbled Feta).

To be honest my breakfast was small and although I enjoyed the flavours I was still left feeling hungry from the small piece of Salmon and tiny egg, if you took away the greenery there wasn't much there. My sister's on the other hand was a much better portion by adding the chicken as an extra.

To wash it down with, how could I not order the Lucky Fortune Latte in Pink, and my sis had the Yellow Spanish Cafe Latte. LOVED my fruitloops and Rice krispies but eat them quickly before they get soggy 🤣

After breakfast we were still peckish, so I had organized a piece of Lemon Meringue with Happy Birthday written on it. Damn that Lemon Meringue was good. Good portion size, we should have tried another cake that day as they have quite the variety, or even just another slice but we behaved. To end off the morning we celebrated with a Goddess Daiquiri (Absolut Vodka, fresh cut strawberries, mint and Cranberry juice) and a Pomegranate, Ginger Paloma (Olmeca Tequila gold, mint, honey ginger brew, grapefruit juice, Pomegranates and Soda) I mean see how healthy we are, got in out fruits for the day 🍹🍸

Even though I'm not a Pink fan, would I go back? Absolutely, loved the vibe, the staff, the funky menu items and just that happiness feeling all around that the decor creates. I can't wait to try the new branch opening in Jozi.

Go check them out and the are doggy friendly...

Took my wife and daughters for a brunch/light meal late in the late morning and the place was already buzzing which is a good thing as thry must be doing something right.

Being the Goddess Cafe, the decor was very feminine and with all the flowers, albeit artificial but its easier to maintain, my daughter loved it and was constantly pointing to all the flowers.

I do appreciate that establishments like this exist in the current political climate that where women can go to enjoy a feminine themed ambience and enjoy themselves.

The service was a bit lacking, but it could've been due to being busy. What is annoying is this idea that we have to scan for a menu which I refuse to do due to the security and privacy risks along why would anyone expect someone to spend money to view their menu... Last time I checked data isn't free. Although a small price, there is a price.

The food was in general good, just presentation for me OK but the plates seemed messy. This is subjective however.

I ordered the burger and asked for it to be doubled up as I always try to order a double. The bun seemed a bit stale and was crumbling apart, the patties was slightly over cooked, but still juicy, tasted like boerewors which took away the beef flavour and also felt like it needed some salt, but I think I know why this was. Because cheddar is used, they steam the patty to melt the cheese, but this over cooks it along with removes some of the maillard reaction that would add flavour. I did appreciate the use of what seemed like in house picked gherkins and red onions as it added some depth of flavour.

My wife ordered a wrap which she scoffed so my assumption is it was good. My daughter loved the pink milkshake and it was quite vibrant.

We also took a take away as we needed to get going and had slices of the baked cheese cake and carrot cake which was both to die for. Its the first time in a long time I had a cheese cake that didn't have a flourish taste or grainy texture. The carrot cake used macadamia nuts which is my favourite. Both slices were amazing.

Overall it was a good experience and understand why...

Think you like pink? Well, prepare to be absolutely assaulted by it. The walls, ceiling, upholstery, pizza oven, and even the air-conditioning vents are all covered in layers of pink paint. Bathroom entrance - pink neon!

As an extra-kitsch addition, enjoy the beauty of plastic flowers flippin' everywhere.

The white plastic chairs that are meant to resemble classy wooden chairs complete the unholy trinity of visual trauma, faux flora, and the surprise of nearly flinging a chair across a room because you thought it would be much heavier.

Yeah, subtle isn’t the name of the game here.

For better implementation of all-pink (or mostly pink) décor, look to The Flamingo Room at Tasha’s Sandton.

Other than the ghastly shopfitting, the menu at Goddess Café is good and lots of vegan and vegetarian options, including plant-based milks, are offered. Quite a pricey place, so don’t expect a small bill.

The doggy menu is a wonderful option, and more places should offer it. The ability to bring your dog along for this rollercoaster of a dining experience is worth a star on it's own!

Waiters are friendly and efficient, and managers seem attentive and on-the-ball.

So, if you’re looking for an upscale place with a varied menu where you can take your dog, you’ve found it. Just remember...
