McDonald's Isando Drive-Thru — Restaurant in Gauteng

McDonald’s Isando. Apparently this is supposed to be a 24 hour drive thru (as it should be). Pulled up at the drive thru (late at night) and they told me their system needs to be “rebooted” because it’s “offline”. I asked them for an explanation as to why and how long the system will take to be back but someone working there dismissed me and just told me “bye bye”. I don’t know who said that but I kept hearing the name “Natasha”. I was confused by all this because no one was able to explain to me why they couldn’t assist me. All I was told was ”bye-bye” without an explanation. One of the people working night shift (at the drive thru intercom) asked me what I was doing for a living - as if that even matters. Then she told me I wouldn’t understand because I’m not an IT expert. Funny because even SHE couldn’t explain to me what was going on. As if she even studied IT. I’m going to take a wild guess and say that they were not interested in serving customers at all. 3 different vehicles drove past me when I was trying to get an explanation as to why they couldn’t serve customers. I don’t think it takes an expert to see that the people working here are not interested in helping customers at a 24h drive thru. If the owner/manager sees this, please look into this because it’s a recurring problem. Your employees DO NOT want to assist customers anytime past midnight. If you’re a customer checking for reviews at this place, do not waste your time coming here after midnight. Sometimes even 11 pm. They have a board saying it’s a 24h McDonald’s but it’s not. Please remove that false advertising. It’s not a good look on this business. If you’re running a 24h business and you hire people that are rude and dismissive to customers simply because they don’t want to work, please put up a sign that warns us that there’s a chance your workers will be rude to us and feed us lies about how they aren’t able to help us. Today I went through the drive thru to grab some lunch for my children. I collected my food, and checked the bag. The rest of the order is there but the 10 piece chicken nuggets were not in the bag. I politely asked for them. The lady said they were in the bag, so I handed the bag back to her to check. No chicken nuggets! Another lady comes to the window, checks the bag and tells me that it’s impossible as she packed them in there herself. I reiterate, they are not in the bag. Next thing an older woman, I’m assuming the manager, comes outside to the drive thru checks the bag then demands to check my car for said nuggets. I was shocked and asked “excuse me?”, to which she rudely replied “ yes I’m going to because this is not on” basically implying that I have hidden the nuggets in my car in order to get free ones. I said fine because I know I don’t have these damn nuggets. All of a sudden the box of nuggets appears and everyone is very sorry. To be treated like a criminal over 10 chicken nuggets is just so rude and unnecessary. I do realise that there are some people in this world who would hide food to get free food, but I didn’t even have time between taking the bag and returning the bag to do so. I am disgusted to have been treated this way and will absolutely never return to this branch. Honestly there are plenty of better run McDonalds with better trained staff all over Edenvale, I don’t...

1...this McDonalds always ask you to go and park in the front even though there is no one behind you, always...every person that was there that morning had to go and park. And I have had numerous prior experiences with this McDonalds where they do this and the food is not right. 2...the chips that they then brought was cold. 3...I went back inside to return it and get a refund, then they threw the chips back in to the chips container to be reserved, after I, my wife and the manager touched the chips. And also placed the cardboard container for the chips back to be re-used for the next order.

All of this was not right, but putting the food back for someone else to be re-served is shocking. Especially with Corona. I am of the opinion that health and safety should close...
