My first visit to PRIVA was in June, this year for my birthday. My Boyfriend always allows me choose our adventures and PRIVA exceeded our expectations. We thoroughly enjoyed the tranquility, the ambience, the view, the food and the service.
Though we didn't have a reservation, we were able to be seated and were advised that for future visits, a reservation is required. We understood why and was given a beautiful welcome by the Manager as well as an entertaining History lesson. Our waitress was extremely friendly and most talkative. We were well taken care of and perfectly informed about everything.
We had the crab cakes and three dressed oysters to start, followed my the stuffed calamari and fillet steak for our mains. The food was exquisitel beautifully plated and extremely scrumptious! Without a doubt, we were satiated and didn't have space for dessert.
On Saturday, we visited PRIVA again, for lunch and it was a delightful experience. We just wanted the peace and quiet and the beautiful view. We ordered the Springbok capaccio and three way dressed oysters to start. Was yummy but by one oysters didn't have the white chocolate to compliment the caviar as it did, on my first visit.
Our mains, we went for the salmon and pork medallions. The food was incredible though my veggies were just a bit overly grilled but once again, we enjoyed every morsel. The pork medallions had a refreshing corn and pineapple salsa which my Boyfriend just loved. It really complimented the pork!!! (I forgot to take pics, next time).
We agreed, we could have licked our plates, lol š. It was delightful and our tummies were full!
THANK YOU PRIVA for the incredible service, the warm and friendly welcome on arrival and most importantly, being recognised from our previous visit. This is why patrons will always frequent places they love because not only is the food phenomenal but the hospitality is consistent and the clientele are taken care of and are truly appreciated.
We will definitely be back again ā¤ļø. All the way from the South & West Rand to Waterkloof Heights, yes, absolutely worth...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband booked us for my 30th birthday which was on a Tuesday. He booked on the day and managed to get a table. The owner was so helpful, my husband went to drop off the balloons and they had set up the table for the evening. Since itās winter, unfortunately we couldnāt get a glimpse of the sunset view as it got dark quickly but the ambiance inside the restaurant was very calm and romantic, with dimmed lights and candle lighting. It was quiet with a few clients (who graciously came up to wish me well), very sweet. The dinner included wine pairing and the sommelier, Mike seemed knowledgeable about the wines. The waitress, Rutendo was very patient with us as we were taking tons of pictures. She explained the dishes well and was very helpful.
We chose the dinner night menu, which is affordable but you might need to add drinks as the wine pairing might not be adequate depending on you. Now the food for me was great but unfortunately I had to compare it and I have had better at another fine dining restaurant I like in Pretoria. I tried oysters for the first time- not my cup of tea, in general. The crab cake starter was good, the salad balanced it nicely. My husbandās springbok starter was also good, he enjoyed the smokiness, said it tasted like bacon. The pork belly was really not great for me but it wasnāt my dish. I think it lacked flavour and you could smell that pork scent in the taste, could use more sweetness and sauce. Almost wish it was the fattier, marbled cut. The salsa was also meh, the pumpkin tart was amazing. My sirloin was well prepared, little seasoning though, on cubed potatoes and beetroot sauce. I wish it was on smashed potatoes. Dessert was decent, Iād remove the crumble for my sorbet. All in all it was a wonderful experience, I enjoyed my birthday, everyone was helpful. If Iām going for the food alone, Iām not sure it convinced me to go a second time than try...
