This wimpy is actually very good and so are the other restaurants next to it. The problem is outside the restaurant - parking on the street and even the checkers parking. It has become very dangerous. Car jamming, attempt theft, other cars bash into your car and drive off, phone snatching…The owners of the restaurants, unfortunately, need to get together and hire security to keep the vehicles safe or they are going to lose patrons such as myself- no fault of theirs but….. The car guards are big part of the problem. They are not regulated and appear to look the other way- protect the criminals or appear to keep a look out on behalf of them. Last night someone open the back half door of the canopy of my bakkie and literally frightened my dog so he was forced to jump off the bakkie. He ran across the main rd, a very busy rd to get away. Fortunately, I was alerted by a customer sitting at wimpy and rescued my dog. Not sure what the perpetrators were up to - steal my bakkie by trying to get rid of my dog from it? The car guard told me someone opened the door of the canopy and he saw my dog jump of and run off but “he did not see them” nor did he come and call me - he new where I had gone but did nothing to help. My advice: Do not support these car guards, do not trust them with...
Read moreThe food is generally good here. BUT service is inconsistent. Sometimes it's good sometimes it's really poor. I'd love to rate this place higher, as it rightfully deserves. A little improvement can really go a long way.
For example: Request for food to be brought with drinks was not adhered to. The food was ready, but not brought to the table and it was cold when it arrived.
Other notes on atmosphere: generally loud but acceptable. Everyone's in their own zone but having a good time.
The bathroom is outside. If you really need to go, the staff will direct you accordingly. The quality of the bathroom is acceptable if you are not too fussy. Getting there through the back can be a bit confusing.
Overall, it's a great place to enjoy whatever Wimpy has to offer, with the exception of service being inconsistent at times. Forgot to add; the Wimpy Coffee here is...
Read moreSo we went here, and it was nice because we don't really get halaal Wimpy in Cape Town. The food was good.
But I won't be continuing my patronage to this particular branch, simply because I witnessed the owner/manager shouting at a beggar outside the restaurant, telling him to go away.
My partner felt so bad for the way the owner/manager treating the beggar, that he went elsewhere and bought him something.
At the very least, the owner/manager could have given the person some kitchen scraps or leftovers - restaurants throw away lots of uneaten food from customers.
Over and above that, Islam is supposed to promote compassion and charity. This was such a show of a lack of compassion. I will never forget this experience, and I will never return to...
