We arrived just after sunset. The restaurant is a little difficult to identify as it is not signposted. It sits in the boutique hotel “Mount Knysna” which is clearly shignposted.
The decor is upmarket with a stunning view of the heads and ocean from a symmetrical deck with the glow of the sunset reflecting off the infinity pool.
We were greeted by Jordon on our arrival who took good care of us throughout the evening.
We had the place to ourselves while we sipped tea on the deck taking in the view and selecting a dinner from the menu.
We enjoyed a starter of crumbed camembert which was generously portioned. I did feel it could have been cooked on the inside a little longer.
The table settings was lovely for high dining with matching views.
The Vegetarian Tai curry was tasty, a little oily and the proportion of peppers a in abundance.
The T-bone was disappointing. Ordered med rare it came med to well and tough with the result of little moisture left to hold its flavor. The fillet portion side of the T was also tough. The vegetable selection of broccoli and carrot was without much flavor and a little over steamed tasing somewhat like frozen veg. The baked potato was firm not fluffy with a generous side of butter and sour cream.
The open kitchen I liked, as one can see the cleanliness and adds to the ambiance. Being the only couple dining that evening the conversations from the kitchen staff were amplified and affected the ambience.
Overall the service, setting and decor was great. The food preparation needs some work in order justify the pricing and to make this venue the fine dining experience it...
Read moreThis venue offers amazing views towards the Knysna West Heads and Buffalo Bay. We were very happy to have found this spot as it was not too busy and we were able to enjoy delicious pre dinner cocktails. I loved my choice of Basil, Pineapple and Ginger Martini and my fiance had the Watermellon and Coconut, warning this is a pink drinks and if you didn't order it yourself you might think it is an alcoholic strawberry milkshake. Starters we had a Beetroot and Goats cheese salad and for mains the Pasta Supreme, which could possibly have been more tasty, but was really good and a fillet steak done perfectly accompanied by a side of delicious shoestring fries and yummy mixed veg. Overall a great experience, which I can highly recommend, specially due to the very affordable prices and absolutely awesome view. Arrive early to enjoy the view, soak up the sun, while working your way through the...
Read moreWe arrived quite late on a Sunday night after confirmation of a booking. I had a grilled sole which I returned as it was raw. They then made a complete new dish that was good. However my wife ordered a Veal Masala. I think the closest Masala taste was still being cultivated on the Indian subcontinent. This taste was a mix of an onion brown sauce/Bisto gone wrong. The meal was returned to the kitchen about 98% untouched. The supervisor told us that they had numerous complaints about this dish in the past and he will bring it to management's attention. Despite that we were charged full price. Quite irritated as this is an upmarket venue and supposed to present cusine relevant to the...
