Hennie's George Restaurant — Restaurant in George

We were at Hennie's in George on Saturday for lunch.

Your waitress, Chantelle did her best to ruin the experience. She made a show of crumbling up a menu that got water on and her attitude became a passive aggressive temper tantrum. She intentionally slammed glasses down with force and noise and continued with what can be described as angry waitressing.

She continued to treat us like naughty children with her Miss Rottenmeier attitude.

A different waitress brought us coasters after I used my tissues to absorb the condensing water from a glass.

Chantelle failed to replace the menu she crumbled up, failed to remove used glasses and plates in a timely manner and failed to treat us with basic human decency.

No amount of friendliness or politeness from our side could remedy her punishing attitude.

We did our best to not let her ruin our dining experience, but the stink of it lingered.

We even left her the service fee for which she couldn't even express any gratitude. Should your rule#1 not apply to staff too?

As we don't need this kind of treatment or nonsense, we have decided to no longer frequent your restaurant. We used to frequent Hennies twice a month with 2 main meals and drinks which amounts to about R1600. I've quickly calculated your loss in revenue over just the next two years, which resulted in R800...

Visited it on Wednesday, 16 Nov 2022, plenty of tables available. Had excellent service from the bar, but there it stoped. Waiter took order without writing it down. After 45 min we asked where our pizzas was, he said it's comming. In that time 2 tables next to us got their orders and they entered and ordered long after us. 15 min later received 2 pulled pork pizzas, 1 was the wrong. We send it back. We order 4 different pizzas he said the 2 hennies are on the way, only ordered 1 hennie. Received the 1 hennie and the other pizza. By this time my pulled pork (which didn't looked like pulled pork, it had square blocks of pork) was cold. Waited 10 more minutes for the frik pizza my son ordered. Waiter then came and apologized said he was at fault and that the frik is on it's way. We must start eating. Now we share the 3 pizzas between the 4 of us. Another half hour later we paid and left without the 4th pizza. Although the waiter paid for the 3 pizzas and apologized, this experience will let me think twice before visiting Hennie's again. We would suggest you eat somewhere else. We ordered food at 8:30pm and complained that we had been waiting awhile, it took an 1 hour and 45 minutes to be served, we were told they would look into it but nothing changed then still got charged full price and no apology nor did anyone come to speak to us. We only left well after 10:30pm with 2 small children. Spoke to a person who then refunded a service fee which was meant for the waiter who didn’t receive a tip due to the lack of efficiency of the kitchen staff. Our bill was over R2000 so would have expected better service. We then complaint again to someone else called Elmarie J she then told us that she will speak to the owner and that they will call us tomorrow she also then went on to say that the service fee actually doesn’t get paid to the staff it’s a fee to run the establishment. We then gave the waiter a cash tip as then he would actually receive the tip for their service. Management was poor and they are extorting their staff.
