From the moment we stepped into Mozambik at Wilson's Wharf, we were enveloped in an atmosphere that perfectly balanced the vibrancy of Portuguese culture with the serene beauty of the waterfront. The decor, a tasteful mix of rustic and modern elements, set the stage for what would be an unforgettable dining experience.
Our day began with a warm welcome from our waiter, Elijah, whose professionalism and charm were immediately evident. Elijah's attentive and personalized service was a highlight of our visit. His deep knowledge of the menu and genuine passion for the cuisine added a layer of richness to our dining experience that went far beyond the food itself.
Our starters, we indulged in the ribs and calamari. The ribs were tender and succulent, marinated to perfection with a blend of spices that offered a delightful hint of smokiness. The calamari, expertly cooked, boasted a crispy exterior while remaining wonderfully tender inside. Each bite was a testament to Mozambik's dedication to authenticity and quality.
Our next course included the sirloin steak and the coconut rice. The sirloin steak was a masterpiece, cooked to our exact specifications, and bursting with flavor. The steak's seasoning was robust yet balanced, enhancing the natural juiciness of the meat without overpowering it. Paired with the steak, the coconut rice was a revelation. Creamy and aromatic, the rice added a touch of tropical flair that complemented the hearty richness of the sirloin perfectly.
Throughout our meal, Elijah's service was impeccable. He ensured our glasses were never empty and that every detail of our dining experience was attended to with precision and care. His recommendations were spot on, reflecting a deep understanding of both the menu and our personal tastes. Elijah's warm demeanor and attentive nature transformed our dinner into a truly memorable event.
In conclusion, Mozambik at Wilson's Wharf is a gem that promises an exceptional dining experience. The combination of fantastic food, a beautiful setting, and outstanding service—exemplified by the wonderful Elijah—makes this restaurant a must-visit for anyone seeking the best of Portuguese cuisine in Durban. We left Mozambik with our palates delighted, our hearts full, and a keen anticipation for...

After hearing the ravings about the place, we decided to visit
Management and customer service is more clueless than the actual customers and cannot make a call to deal with issues. It almost feels as though customers are put in tough spots just to get their food.
After placing orders, we are then told that there is no hake to be prepared for our meals. Instead of suggestions or compensations , we are told to order something else. We then call for the manager who is just as clueless as us to deal with the situation. We are told that they have to get hake from Westwood mall and they will let us know what would be done then. After a few minutes, we are told that there will be no hake and substitutions cannot be done. How ?! We ordered 2 meals amounting close to R700, aside from another 3 meals, and we were almost forced to order something else because management could not assist to fulfill our order. Keep in mind that this is about 30 minutes after our arrival. I will give credit where it's due that after suggesting to the manager if he could substitue the fish for something else, he said he'll try.
Wait a further +-45 minutes, our waitress comes to us to say that there's a problem that our food is ready but they have run out of rice. Mozambik's signature is their coconut rice which I'm a big fan off, but I'm surprised in a restaurant full of people there wasn't any.
Our options again were choose between mash, chips, and salad (with seafood?). There was no judgement or service even excuted by management which is just appalling. Even asking as to what can be done , there was no effort or customer service to even have a conversation about what could be done . Management stood there and waited for us , whilst overhearing, whether we're going to cancel our order or eat elsewhere.
In the end , management was happy to cancel our order after we paid for our drinks and decided to walk out.
John Dory's accommodated us though at 20:20 on a Sunday night .
Don't get fooled by the music and location of Mozambik. There's...
