On 2 June 2025, I opted to have breakfast at ZBC before my morning flight. I waited 20 minutes without having any waitress come to me. I eventually called the restaurant and a lady promptly answered the phone. I told her that I had been waiting for 20minutes and had not received any service. The lady told me that they were short staffed. I told her perhaps you should be letting patrons know before being seated that it is going to be a long wait. I told her that I need to leave. I saw 2 other tables where patrons were trying to get the attention of the waitress but to no avail. I will not attempt going back to ZBC. Surely management must have a backup plan in the event of having lesser staff than required. Every patron will have time as a focal point when choosing a restaurant at the airport. I do feel the manager could have done more to assist. Be on the ground, help...

I am absolutely appalled!

I ordered a still water and cappuccino, I got my order, 30 minutes in no one checked in if I am ok or needed anything else, so I decided to go to the bar section to pay my bill with another server and headed to Mugg n Bean to grab a bite, the initial server who served me came to my table at Mugg n Bean and accused me of not paying the bill in front of other people, when I informed her I had paid the bill to the server at the bar and confirmed the amount I paid, she proceeded to argue and told me the amount was incorrect and I had not paid.

I walked back with her to clarify with her college who confirmed I had in fact paid! She was too lazy to go check before coming and accusing me. Pathetic service...

The place was empty, we needed breakfast before our flight. My daughter suggested that because it’s empty we’ll be done in time for our flight and our normal go to place was packed and might take longer. Lo and behold we waited over 30 minutes for our food. Their pineapple juice is horrid. We were the last to board the flight literally got there at last call, without our food. Waitress rushed the food in 2 batches only to find the toast was burnt and no condiments added I.e butter on burnt toast would definetly help it go down better. Also the signage is nice. Deco of the place is very oldern days and needs a revamp. Otherwise nice concept. Quicker and service and nicer food would definitely be...

My wife and I had a late breakfast here one morning in May 2025 while waiting to board our flight to Cape Town. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the service was great. I had the full breakfast and my wife had the croissants and toast. Food was pretty good. The atmosphere... well... you're in an airport departures hall, so... well... you know. The only unfortunate thing was that due to some kind of liquor licensing issue the company was having with the government, we couldn't sample the Zulu Blonde beer, which was a pity. Oh well, maybe next time.

“I don’t know if it’s just me, but my luck with airport restaurants is always a letdown. I’ve tried almost every spot at King Shaka and had higher hopes for this place since it’s not a chain. Unfortunately, the burger was dry, the chips were tasteless, and while I liked that they toasted the bun, it was way too flat. It felt like they didn’t take much pride in the food they were serving. They didn’t add any sauce to the burger, only providing tomato sauce on the table to add yourself—so what’s the point of that? I really didn’t get it.”

I was at the airport on a Monday afternoon. Waitress was polite & friendly. I ordered a cajun chicken wrap & they had run out of chicken which I was told after 25 minutes of waiting. I got my order 35 minutes after I ordered. A wrap with a very small portion of chips. I had to leave 10 minutes later so it was a rush. Not the ideal experience at an airport restaurant.
