I frequent this establishment regularly and have observed a recurring pattern that concerns me. It appears that the owner and manager tend to focus their attention predominantly on customers of a specific race, while seemingly avoiding interaction with individuals of another race. I've noticed that a particular staff member is consistently assigned to handle customer service for POC.

While the overall staff is friendly and attentive, and the food meets the standard of M&G, I find the apparent profiling to be disappointing. Many hospitality establishments aim to avoid such issues for the sake of their reputation, but it seems this establishment may not share the same perspective. I believe addressing and rectifying this issue would contribute positively to the overall customer experience.

Update 2023 I’m a regular here. I always have the Rancheros Omelette. I’ve tried other items on the menu but my tastebuds don’t agree, ie; Sweetcorn Fritter Stack, South African Eggs Benedict, California Omelette, Breakfast Bagel and I find the muffins too dry for my liking. Visiting Mug & Bean in Hartbeespoort was like taking a deep breath of comfort and kindness. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with genuine smiles and attentive service. The atmosphere is cozy yet spacious, with beautiful views that make you want to sit and stay a little longer.

The food? Absolutely delicious! Generous portions, fresh ingredients, and that signature Mug & Bean warmth in every bite. Whether you’re popping in for a hearty breakfast, a good coffee, or one of their famous muffins, you won’t leave disappointed.

What stood out most was the staff – friendly, helpful, and clearly passionate about creating a welcoming experience. It’s not just a coffee stop, it’s a place that feels like home.

We ALWAYS go to this branch. We went yesterday. Even told by the front manager saying we haven't been here in a while. We Drive all the way from PTA to eat here. Well it was the last. I know we were there in peak time 10.30am but struggled to get the waitress attention. Placed our order. My classic bfast was ice cold and my brother had a bfast bagel that was old and rubbery. Couldn't find our waiter after 15min we ate the meals. Waiter didn't even query why half the bagel was send back and no doggy bag was wanted. Then it was the fight for the bill. Even the tabel next to us was struggling to get the bill. Only to find out the waiter went out the restaurant to who knows where. I dont know what was going on but the standards had dropped and service was severely lagging. Its sad this was my favorite...
