Tasty. First word to describe it. It was my first visit on Mother’s Day 2019 and I enjoyed my time there. The server, managers and owners (not sure) were helpful, kind and willing to change anything we had a problem with.
I ordered the butter chicken with naam garlic bread. Delicious and would definitely order again. My uncle got tandoor hot lamb and he was struggling to not break a sweat. So warning for those who don’t know, it’s hot ! My mother had a complicated order and when they brought it through you could see it wasn’t quite right for her, she told them, they sent it back and gave her something more to her liking without a fuss.
Food serving was a feast. With you main meat disk/ curry in one bowl and rice etc in another for people to share. I’m not sure if anyone of my family members could finish their food. I definitely took mine home to eat later. Food pricing was alright, ranging from like R80 for chicken - R180 for lamb. Not sure about the other pricing On vegetarian or seafood etc but definitely decent.
Where we sat it was slightly cramped, but we wanted to be downstairs because my grandmother wouldn’t be able to climb the stairs. Around us were families seated, including a big group and a small family of three with a small child.
They also serve a variety of standard drinks and liquors. Don’t go their wanting a fancy cocktail, they probably won’t do it. For the smokers, there is a table and ashtray outside the door for you to smoke.
On the Sunday, I think we had to leave by three otherwise we would have stayed longer. All in all a...
Read moreI ordered three meals to be delivered via Uber eats. The curry was accompanied by rice. The restaurant packaged all the curry in flimsy foil containers with cardboard lids. The rice was packaged in styrofoam containers. All of the rice opened in the delivery packaging and the curries, stacked on top of each other smashed into each. I called the restaurant to give feedback and Jagjith (Manager) was exceptionally rude and unwilling to listen to my feedback. He attempted to justify that the packaging was sufficient and it was not his problem that the food was spoiled due to poor packaging. He blamed Uber. I tried to explain that he could improve the packaging by simply cling wrapping each parcel of food or opting for sturdy plastic containers with plastic lids that do not disintegrate or deteriorate on stacking. He was bullheaded and rude and refused to accept responsibility, or to apologise. A simple apology would have been enough. Sadly, some restaurants like this one prefer to charge a premium for food and spend the least on food packaging. I won't bother to support this business or...
Read moreThe first time I tasted something from here was their butter chicken. I thought that it would be one of the mediocre bland versions that would fail to please, however i could not have been more wrong! The butter chicken was SO GOOD IT CHANGED THE GAME. it was smokey and creamy and paired perfectly with both rice or butter naan. It raised the bar forever and I always compare others with this one. Ive tried their other menu items on many other occasions and have never been disappointed. Their lamb rogan josh, chicken tikka bhoti and many others are delightful indeed. Recently we tried the butter chicken again and the consistency is still pretty much there. Dhal makhni was different though, not quite as hearty and rich as it should be. They have since opened up a second branch in the heart of HILTON. Their meals are pricey indeed but it sure is a real treat whether you are dining in or prefer take-out. It is indeed a...
