Small but nicely handled. It gives you old Pietermaritzburg / early KZN history in a way that feels real, not like school. Staff are helpful, and they’ll actually explain things in normal language if you ask. You don’t have to pretend to know the entire timeline.

Brilliant, lovely venues for events, lovely exhibits, well kept!

Exhibits include exhibits about the San people, traditional Zulu tools and pottery, Voortrekers, and even the French. Two large attractions are a traditional bee hive hut outside and an old and restored Voortreker wagon.
