Petiscos is your go to place for Seafood, especially the fish but unfortunately the standard is not the same anymore.

We understand if you are accustomed to amazing fish and good food here, and the standard goes down slightly, but today 29/10/2023 the standard was not on par at all.

We ordered a seafood platter for two. The food was cold when it arrived after 10 minutes of ordering it, which doesn’t make sense on a sunny warm day. The Hake was overcooked and mushy, the mussels were 50% empty shells with no mussels in and most of the prawns were not cleaned properly with veins still in, which is basically poop you see.

We raised this with the Manager Manny and he apologized and wanted to make up for it. They brought back the same overcooked Hake and the same uncleaned Prawns with a new side of mussels and just heated up the veg. I raised this again with the Manager and he said this is due to the fact that we ate some of the food originally, he then implied that people are just looking for an excuse to not pay or are looking to get more food for free. He said that the only thing Management can do when a customer complaints about food after they already started eating it, is to just warm it up and give back the same plate with a little bit extra.

First of all our waiter didn’t come check on us while we were eating as she was busy with another table and we could not raise this with her. When she finally did come to us then yes some of the food was eaten like the calamari that was good but cold, some of the prawns we had to clean ourselves by removing the veins and a small piece of the overcooked fish. We didn’t ask for the platter to be replaced, we just asked for a piece of fish that is not overcooked, replace the prawns we didn’t eat, and mussels that were not mostly empty shells. To then imply by Management that we are looking for an excuse to not pay or get more food for free is not on and to handle a customer that brings something to your attention twice like this is very sad.

If Management deals with a situation where a customer complains for the first time ever, coming to your restaurant for the past 10 months and you know that we are always ecstatic about your food and service. At least handle the customer with respect and never bring back the same overcooked fish and uncleaned prawns by just warming it up and implying that we are looking for free food.

Here is a photo of the platter that was just reheated. We didn’t eat or touch this and send it back for the second time.

We obviously end up paying with a tip as we always do. That was never the issue, it is the right thing to do when you visit a restaurant - even though you are not happy with the food. I can unfortunately due to how this was handled by Management not recommend...

Stopped for a car repair issue and saw this place upstairs of an unassuming and bland business park. Interesting decor in that it looks like they fired the interior designer right at the start and brought in cousin Bert who just loves pottering about in his wood shop and also dabbles in copper pipe decorations. Norman Bates’ mum might very well have chipped in with her driftwood chandelier creations. Very warm and effusive welcome, and sterling service. Wine cold and before anything else, a bread roll and butter is delivered. Haven’t seen that for a while. Not in South Africa at any rate.

There are a couple of suspiciously giant speakers in the corners, a mirror ball mounted on the ceiling and what looks like a small stage against another wall. Perhaps they do a Mediterranean ho-down?

I ordered a ‘speciality’ of prawns and calamari with rice. A relatively modest portion with a savoury rice that would not win any awards, with, for some reason, raw carrot sticks cut with a machete, but for the price, an absolutely lovely meal and well worth it. Accidentally tipped 22% instead of my usual 15, and was quite happy with that....

I made a booking two weeks ago,and I got my confirmation text on 24 August, for my booking for 6pp at 16.00.I replied perfect ! Myself and my friend arrived at 15.00 pm because we wanted a drink before in the bar area. On arrival we noticed that the table I booked 2 weeks ago,had six people at it,that just received there meals.I spoke to management several times in the next hour, and was assured that the table will be available at 16.00pm. The rest of my guests arrived at 16.00pm and the customers at the table that was supposed to be for us refused to move, having drinks at that stage, because they were not informed that the table was booked for 16.00pm. This was a special day for me and my family and we had to leave because you had no table available for us,this was super disappointing. Funny how you ask for a R80 per person payment for no shows on a confirm booking but what happens if I have to leave because you had no table available for a six seater booking you knew about for two weeks. My family drove from Kraaifontein, and we were all so excited, this was really disappointing, you need...

We went with very high expectations and they were absolutely met. Served by the lovely Jacques who tended to our every need offering recommendations, to be fair everything on the menu looks amazing and we will be returning to try more. The cooks are predominantly from Mozambique and i would highly recommend the specials, as an added insight in Mozambique the cooks ran a successful beach restaurant business so anything to do with fish you can guarantee perfection. Whilst the location of Petiscos is interesting as it’s part of the Parklands Shopping Estate, the decor and atmosphere was first class. ALL of the staff were fun and friendly and the vibe is relaxed, whilst keeping their standards extremely high. All in all this was a fantastic experience i wish there was a Petiscos on my doorstep at home. if you plan to visit at weekends apparently it is recommended to book. oh - finally !!!! PRICES were extremely reasonable.
