Mugg & Bean — Restaurant in Table View

I recently visited the Mugg & Bean at Bayside Mall in Table View and had a very pleasant experience. The branch is conveniently located near the main entrance, making it an easy stop whether you are shopping or just looking for a relaxed meal. The atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming, with plenty of space between tables and a good mix of natural light and cozy indoor seating.

My girlfriend ordered the chicken mayo sandwich with sweet potato chips. The sandwich was generous in portion, filled with creamy chicken mayo and served on fresh bread that held up well to the filling. The sweet potato chips were crisp and slightly sweet, offering a healthier alternative to regular fries without compromising on taste.

I ordered the eggs benedict along with an iced coffee as a sit down. The eggs were poached just right with golden hard yolks that paired perfectly with the smooth hollandaise sauce. The presentation was neat and the portion size felt well balanced, satisfying without being too heavy. The iced coffee was refreshing, smooth, and served in a way that made it enjoyable to sip slowly during the meal.

The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Our waiter checked in at the right times and made sure we were comfortable throughout. The food arrived quickly, even though the restaurant was fairly busy.

Sadly my exprience today was not a good one. Ordered a light meal and a coffee shake. On receiving my bill I was overcharged and complained to the waitress that she did not explain anything to me as she was also not aware of the price difference from the menu to my bill until I pointed it out to her. I ordered avo on toast with a soft poached egg. It was cooked right through as the pic shows. A very dry meal as the spinach under the avo unedible as well. The shake was great thankfully as I needed something to help the food go down. Service and food very disappointing today. I've had better before and am not shy to give a good recommendation which I have done before at M&B's. Why charge extra for an egg when it's part of the meal, an extra R19!!!? Plus another R6 for the bread? wow so unnecessary. Tell your staff to explain things to their clients when they can see that one is ordering incorrectly but then she didn't know better either. We visited the very spacious Mugg & Bean at Bayside Mall on Mother’s Day, expecting it to be jam-packed, but to our surprise, it was almost empty. That worked in our favor, as we received fast and efficient service from the friendly staff.

The restaurant was clean and welcoming, and the new layout feels much more open and comfortable. We ordered the Eggs Benedict and the Farmstyle Breakfast. While the Eggs Benedict was tasty, the mushrooms on the Farmstyle were cold and didn’t seem fresh, which was disappointing. 🍳 🥓 Also worth noting: there were no Mother's Day specials or promotions, which felt like a missed opportunity.
