Green & Gold — Restaurant in Roodepoort

I have been to this restaurant multiple times, I have never had any complaints.

Tonight friends and I decided to come out to catch up over drinks.

On our way out, two of my friends sat down after being at the restroom, both upset as they were “cat called” by two young “men” at the bar.

Paying no mind to it, as it is a pub and these things happen, we were getting ready to leave when an older man and the two young “men” (in air quotes as I believe these two are barely 18, if at all) made themselves quite comfortable at our table.

We expressed that we weren’t interested at all, and our friends boyfriend asked them to please leave our table as we are about to head out.

In the mean time one of the younger guys had been bothering his girlfriend and when we tried to leave the two of them exchanged a few words

Before we knew it another different guy (also a bit older) jumped in and pushed my friend down the stairs.

This same man later told me he isn’t afraid to hit me I mustn’t disrespect him by telling him to leave us alone we’re leaving. Keep in mind, I am a 24 year old girl and this man is at least twice my size and threatening to hit me and my friend.

I am truly disgusted. I have never been so disappointed in another...

Green and Gold... was always a good place to go to... but lately a person feels uncomfortable... the young waiter girls dress like they have no clothes... and wear the shortest skirts... when they serve customers you can see everything... then they flirt so bad with the men there... and the last time we were there one of the young waiters had her mini skirt on and serving these men and spend most of the time hanging around their table and placing her one leg up on the seat.. displaying everything to the gentlemen... I'm sorry do you really have to sell yourself to get atleast a tip... never have a friendly smile and good service never gave you a tip... all I'm saying is dress atleast better and stop hanging or displaying yourself to men.... when there is a woman at the table you behave and give a smile... but when it's just men at a table you carry on cheap... sorry we as other women there can see what you are doing and basically selling yourself... sorry loved to go there and my fellow workers ladies also said they will not support green and gold anymore... will rather go next door... waiters are...

I went there on a business trip to a close by place and decided to go have a breakfast there. Sadly I came in to the restaurant at about a quarter to 11 in the morning. Then I saw breakfast only is served until 11 but my waiter put down the menu and disappeared until well past 11 anyway there went my breakfast. So I opted for Steak and chips a hit and run Brunch time favourite. Sadly I did not yet find my medium steak correctly cooked to medium so I just let it slide. The Steak was a bit tough though and even the knife had a hard time cutting the meat. However the basting sauce was quite lekker and the fries went down well too. Unfortunately I should have rather taken the pie and pint special so I will definitely go back for that as the pie looked amazing from my point of view when the guys next to me had some. But overall a good place to be the vibe seemed to be quite lively and for the time of day the place was bustling so definitely worth the effort to go. Oh yeah the have quite a large menu with a whole lot of local favourites so I am sure everyone can find something to eat...
