Best restaurant at Westgate Mall! Every time I visit West Peak Spur, I leave with a full stomach and a full heart. I always joke that going there is my antidepressant, because I feel so welcome, valued, and genuinely loved every single time.

The warmth starts with the amazing team - Operations Manager Phenyo, Manager Isaac, and Waitron Willard. They make every visit feel special. I’ve noticed how attentive and hands-on Phenyo and Isaac are, going from table to table to check on guests and make sure everyone’s happy. That kind of personal touch is rare these days, and it truly sets the restaurant apart.

Now, let’s talk about the food - it’s absolutely fantastic! The rump steak is grilled to perfection - tender, juicy, and full of flavour, basted in Spur's tasty BBQ sauce. The onion rings are the best I’ve ever had: perfectly crispy, golden, and not oily at all. The creamed spinach and butternut are always cooked just right - creamy, delicious, and comforting.

And the highlight of every meal for me? The Malva Pudding. It’s honestly the best I’ve ever tasted - warm, soft, and soaked in that irresistible, buttery sauce, accompanied by soft serve ice-cream. Pure heaven on a plate!

Tried this outlet at Westgate. The staff is absolutely brilliant, the place is very nice and clean. The food, on the other hand (my wife's and mine) was mediocre. I ordered the Warrior Combo and my wife ordered chicken schnitzel. My lamb chop was smaller than two R5 coins and very tough and undercooked to my liking. The ribs on my plate could have been more tender. The taste, however, was authentically Spur. The schnitzel my wife ordered, was just chicken breasts with bread crumbs. My son, on the other hand, enjoyed his eisbein. When our order was taken, no-one asked how we liked our meat done, and that has put a damper on my expectations and experience. If, based purely on food, this review would get 4 to 5 stars. However, a meal is not based purely on food and also includes such things as the amenities, drinks and table settings. To start, the plug points for phones and laptops at every table is a major plus, as long as they are clean, which is definitely not the case. The beer selection is excellent, as long as you enjoy mass produced, chemically infused beer. 1 craft beer, come on! As for the settings, the lack of plastic straws is a major plus, however the placemats on our table where placed upside down and mine in particular looked rather moth eaten.
