A bit disappointing...yes we had the best table ever, just in front of the beach! But the view is not enough, we are here to eat. The wine list is very poor..nothing surprising or wow...I personally dont go to this kind of restaurant to drink a red Glen Carlou you find in any other restaurant! It looks there is almost no effort made to offer a real nice wine list. My wife doesnt drink so I have to drink "by the glass". I took a bad Chardonnay, rare, even very rare I dont finish my glass but it wasnt good at all. As a starter I ordered 4 Oysters, I previously asked if they were small oysters (like I ate in Paternoster earlier on and thats the way I enjoy them), the waitress replied yes!...obviously she had no clue because arrived 4 of them fat and milky! Hummm..Ok...I still enjoyed my 1st one, when I see a strange red color on the 2nd one...I still put it in my mouth and spitted it straight away as it was off!! Yeurkk..I didnt feel eating any oysters anymore. To scared to be sick! And I had this horrible taste on my mouth... Honestly...not very nice from a "classy" restaurant...mistakes can happen but I was slightly upset about it. I finally ordered some delicious praws, it saved my evening. As a main, there is only one fish meal on the menu with Hake (really basic fish you eat at any fish and chips place), we decided to get seafood Linguine...the ones I cook at home are much better!! And its a plate you find in most of the restaurants in Cape Town. It was ok, but no more. When it was time to pay, I reminded the waitress about the "off" oyster, telling her I was surprised the manager didnt even come to appolize. He finally came on my request. I think he could have offered a glass of wine or anything, a creme brulée, to keep his customers happy but nothing, except a "sorry about it". We were expecting something more sophisticated. Prices are still very correct and the venue is...
Read moreI booked Leeto several weeks in advance based on Google reviews- and my husband and I were so glad I did.
Situated in a small, protected inlet on the quieter side of Patetnoster beach, Leeto is the restaurant in a very beautifully appointed boutique hotel.
On arrival, we were welcomed by the hotel manager, who directed us into one of the most beautifully appointed - and located - restaurants I have ever been to.
Our table was inside, but we still had a magnificent view out across the sea towards the nature reserve. The whole place is white with earthy accents, offering a warm and relaxing atmosphere.
Out waitress was exceptional, guiding us towards a few of the restaurant's signature dishes and a great, affordable wine choice.
We started out with tiger prawns and a prawn and calamaro risotto, which both had us swooning. After a break outside on the outside furniture, we enjoyed the seafood pasta (heavenly) and the springbok loin, which my husband couldn't stop raving about.
But the piece de resistance was the chocolate dessert with marmalade ice cream. Out. Of. This. World.
All while watching the sky change color as the sun went down.
We both agreed it was the most memorable dinner we could remember having. Well...
Read moreHad an amazing lunch! The Chef's Spring Special is an absolute deal at R350 for 3 courses. The oysters were fresh and quite large, had a delicious taste. Served with both kinds of Tobasco sauce, as all oysters should be.
Beef carpaccio was sliced so thin, it was velvety smooth and instantly melted on the tongue. Lovely.
Spring risotto was cooked to perfection. Normally, I avoid risotto dishes because it is so difficult to get right. But, Leeto nailed it! Buttery, perfect texture, and the vegetables were crisp.
West Coast seafood linguine was absolute perfection. The prawns were exquisite, the fish was delicate, the calamari was exactly as it should be, and the pasta was just incredible.
The Chef's Selection dessert was fabulous. I was pleasantly surprised to see a textbook shell on the creme brulee, which cracked perfectly against the spoon. The vanilla ice cream is homemade, with vanilla bean, and a hint of orange. The salted caramel option can not be described - you simply must try it for yourself.
I can not express how happy I am with today's lunch. The service was fantastic, and everything was well above expectations.
Oh! And the bread. The bread...
