Wimpy — Restaurant in Sydenham

Just had thee worst experience at Wimpy Sparks Road branch. I went in 2 hours ago thinking to treat my husband to a good breakfast meal. We opted to sit in and was then approached by a waitress. This waitress did not even greet us and just asked if she could take our order or if we needed 2 minutes. We told her to give us 2min after which she then returned to our table. As we began placing our orders my husband opted for a chicken schnitzel with onion rings and spinach and butternut. He then asked about mushroom sauce and she mentioned that we could order that separately. When she was about to take down my order I told her that I wanted a chicken meal as well but this actually had a side of mushroom sauce to which I then said fair enough since my hubby and I share , she should cancel the separate mushroom sauce that she had initially noted. At this point the waitress became higly agitated and seemed impatient and I could tell from her stance and actions because it was so apparent. She kept sighing the entire time and making a face at us. I then looked through the meaty menu and thought to myself since my hubby is having chicken let me have some meat and that's when I noticed she was so irritated and my husband and I told her "yoh u look so naar with us" she just kept quiet.I felt highly uncomfortable ordering to a point where i actually told her that im highly uncomfortable placing my order and my husband calmed me down and told me to just order. Because of the way she conducted herself I ended up chosing a meal that I didn't want to actually have and then as she started writing in her notebook she kept banging her wrist on the table as she wrote showing us how irritated she was with us and I stopped her and asked her if she wanted me to write for her because I can also write. Anyway I was extremely irritated but did not say anything further.The food came and my husband's meal was delicious but I took a bite of 1 of the 3 meat items on my plate and thought "oh well this really isn't all that nice". I then thought oh well just one of the 3 items wasnt all that tasty the other two should be fine. I then tasted a piece of the lamb and then a piece of the patty and both were really not good. The food had a very strong meaty taste and the meat was not fully cooked as I could see red on it. I stopped and told my hubby that I was not going to eat any more of this food. I then called the waitress who then called her manager and informed the "manager" that I was not pleased with this meal. She was highly unprofessional and asked me "oh so what's not good about the food you telling me it's not good so what about it is not good?" I explained that the meat had a very strong taste and I just can't eat it. She told me that she would speak to her boss and revert. She then leaves us there comes back and tells us that she checked all her products expiry dates and nothing is expired. I told her that I did not tell her that the food is off rather that it's just not well prepared the meat was all red and seemed as if it wasn't cooked well. Once again she told me that she will speak to her boss and get back to us. She then leaves us hanging and goes and serves other customers until my husband approached her and told her that we need to leave. When we got to the teller the so called manager came to us and told us that nothing is wrong with the food and they won't be taking it off our bill. I then paid for it and made them pack it up and handed the food to a begger outside. I am highly dissatisfied with service that we received and I actually empathize with the owners and implore them to urgently look into their staff and the level of service being provided if they want to still service this community in...

On the 28th of May 2021 I went to the Wimpy in Sydenham/Overport area. To be more specific it's the Wimpy that's near Debonairs by Sparks. To be completely honest in my review it was by far the worst restaurant experience in my entire life. The staff was rude and not attention, they didn't bother to greet us upon entry. We had to resort to drinking water as the lady that is in charge of making refreshments declined to make us milkshakes as it was her break time and we wwrrtnit even provided with any secondary option. The food was rushed and horrible we had ordered a chicken schnitzel and the cheese wasn't even melted all the way through, some of the chips were raw. The waiter that was serving us didn't bother to check in on us, let alone deliver our food to us, infact the most words she spoke was when she asked us if do we need the bill. In conclusion poor service and I would not afvi any self respecting person to go and visit that establishment. For my first experience at that restaurant I left highly disappointed....

Visited here 27/07/2024 at 8.50pm. My husband queried if they were open for service. There were three people at the front desk who acknowledged that they were. They asked us to be seated where ever we wanted. We waited for almost 10 mins for menus (normally given immediately). A waitress, was standing almost in front of us didn't even bother to assist us. My daughter then went to ask for menus. We were then given ONE menu to share amongst three ppl and they were not busy at all. So couldn't have been short of menus. No apology for not giving us menus or the delay. If they were closing...common courtesy was to tell us, and not ask us to be seated, we would have understood. They were busy mopping and making conversation with each other. Absolutely dissappointing and very disrespectful. We left without ordering. They just stared and never even asked why we were leaving. Pease re -train your staff. I have been to all the halal Wimpy stores and have never experienced this in any of the restaurants....
