I went to this restaurant by mistake on Father's Day with my daughter. Its not often that I get to go out alone with her but luckily her husband wanted to spend some time alone with their very very busy three year old son, my first grandson, so I jumped at the chance to spend time with my daughter.
We were looking for a place to eat which had a sea view so I found parking outside Trecastelli. But I thought that this restaurant had a section upstairs before we went in.
However, on entering the place I saw an empty table just inside the door facing the beach and figured this was not a bad place because it was inside the building, sheltered from the wind but bathed with the warm afternoon sun. Perfect in winter. Honestly.
Anyway the waitress came to attend to us and seeing as I am not Italian, though neither was she, I asked her to recommend something tasty but quick and light for the two of us. The pasta was great but I can't forget the pistachio milkshake, honestly.
To put it in context, I need to tell you that I am crazy for peanut butter. I am sure I have an addiction by now. So, when the waitress, whose name was Vanessa by the way, same as my ex wife, my daughter canned herself when she saw my face after I asked the waitress what her name was, recommended the pistachio milk shake.
However, the milkshake made up for the namesake more than adequately. First, its green in color with a slight hint of a nutty flavour that lingers in your mouth pleasantly after you have a swallowed. Really enjoyed that.
The food was more than enough and deliciously scrumptious. Honestly. But it is not the reason I'm going back there. Now I must tell you why.
On my way in I briefly glanced at the pastries on sale but because I was focused on getting to the table, I missed having a thorough at what was on offers. But, on the way out, we both stopped to stare at the gorgeous pastries on offer but time had caught up with us and that's when I promised myself I would be going back again.
So, I will go back, to purchase those tempting pastries and provide you with my honest opinion on the efficacy of those delicacies.
All in all, we had a wonderful time at Trecastelli Tradizionele and I am already thinking of taking someone special there one day for coffee or hot chocolate and pastries. Highly...
Read moreI ended up in hospital; the owner sees his guests only as meal tickets.
I have been agonising over if I should write this review or not, but after checking their Mr Delivery menu today, I am so astonished that a restaurant owner can be this neglectfuls. I decided to go ahead.
On 26 November I ordered a dessert from this restaurant on mr delivery. The menu item I ordered listed something as chocolate, when in fact it contained Nutella (hazelnuts)
I ended up in hospital and anyone that has ever been treated for a nut allergy will tell you it’s not just traumatic, but that you are physically exhausted for days after the treatment.
Through the course of the next two and a half months I periodically tried to reach the owner, Ricardo Trecastelli, to talk to to him about what happened.
His staff would not give him my messages and only ever communicated they couldn’t give me his number. Finally I went to the store to speak to him. Knowing I was there to meet with him he ignored me for more than an hour. When I finally had the opportunity to talk to him, he didn’t make any effort to apologise, but he did say that he will cover the medical bill.
In the weeks that followed he ignored my WhatsApp’s, emails, phone calls and messages left with is staff. There was more than 23 times I tried to make contact. He simply ignored me.
I didn’t ask him to refund my meal, compensate me for the days of work I missed ( I own a small service based business) and refund me the medicines I needed to purchase post my hospitalisation. I just asked for help with the ER medical bill. I genuinely couldn’t afford missing the two days of work, let alone the hospital expenses incurred of R2900. A request that any semi decent human would have obliged.
At no point was a pushy, rude or unreasonable. My only other request I made was that he would just amend the copy to his Mr Delivery menu to make sure that no one else had the same thing happen to them. He just ignored all of it.
I write this not with the intent of getting a half arsed apology or response to my request now. But rather to warn patrons to not support a venue that doesn’t care about your patronage, or that pays you well being lip service.
Have the day that you...
Read moreWe came there last Saturday to come and watch the rugby and to nibble something. When the manager brought our food to the table - she had a accident and knocked over my glass of cooldrink. It was all over my lap running down my sock into my shoe. I understand it was a accident - but they first brought me a other drink and cleaned up the floor before I was attended to. By that time I have asked twice for a cloth.
When our food came the Cabonara pasta was dry. I returned it to make it more saucier. We also ordered a large bowl of chips they brought me a small bowl and told me they didn't have a large portion of chips? I asked for bread - they brought me stale focaccia bread without butter. Before I asked for the bill - I asked the manageress for a bottle of still water. Instead she brought me a glass of tap water, in a dirty glass with no ice and lemon. We also got asked if we done that she can bring the bill?
My entire experience was atrocious and shocking. You must get a more experienced manager or the owners must rather be present at your business to run it professionally. Your waitering staff need lots of proper training. I find it strange for "a traditional Italian restaurant that you serve electric oven pizza's"? I know the restaurant industry as I have worked 13 years in several restaurants at managerial level. I gave you one star - there shouldn't be ANY STARS for your...
