Ocean Shores — Hotel in Blouberg

Stayed here for 3 nights before flying back to Mauritius. ||Stayed in B2 which has 3 upstairs rooms and a kitchen + living room downstairs. ||We had 2 children with us under 2yrs and they loved running around barefoot in the apartment. It was only at dinner did we realize that the bottom of their feet and ours were completely black with dust. It was then that we took a closer look and say dirt everywhere - fingerprints on the microwave, left over crumbs in/on the toaster, oily light switches etc. After complaining to the reception the mess was cleaned up the next morning. The beds and room spaces were clean though, which was more important to us.||They had a funny notice in the bathrooms saying "please keep your shower water. If no water is saved, your floors will not be washed" so we thought, "great" we've been stepping on a floor previously washed with people's shower water. The receptionist clarified that this is not the case and the shower water is only used to flush toilets, phew!||Besides all this, the convenience of the location is great for this place and each unit has its private parking space + private BBQ area in the back.||I wouldn't stay again, but I do need to say that the welcoming we received and the general helpfulness of the staff was great. We booked our stay at this location for 4 families(B1 & A9). We were met by a young guy at reception, name not given throughout our ten day stay. I believe that employees are a reflection on a business good or worse. This guy is the worst. ||Cannot change rooms for my aged parents because head office has already booked a unit on the 2nd floor with no elevator. ||||Booking was inclusive of wifi, just as was the DSTV connection and swimming pool. All of a sudden wifi is a separate bill.(why am I not required to pay for my DSTV connection?). His response, it's Head office ma'am. ||Bedding clearly had shed hair in 2/3 rooms. He would not change it because he was confident the washing machine had done it's part. ||Singling out our kids from the games room instead if explaining that they were too young to play pool. ||The facilities were adequate, the cleaning staff were good, his female colleague was a true star. We were given second floor apartment - with a steep stairs to loft inside. The booking confirmation details and pictures indicated ground floor apartment. This was a big hassle; and dangerous for small kids with steep stairs inside. The WiFi was patchy in the apartment (they said its due to wind!!) - even though you have pay extra for WiFi. I sat in reception whenever I needed to use internet. One bath and toilet in a family of 4 + kids is also challenging. Basic things like 'bath mat' were missing. The floor tiles do not feel good.||Daily housekeeping was good. Location is 10 mins walk to the beach. Good grocery stores nearby for daily use.
