De Brasserie is a must-visit restaurant in the Helderberg area. I recently had the pleasure again of dining at this establishment, and I can say without hesitation that it is one of the best in the area. The location alone is enough to entice anyone, situated in Beach Road with breathtaking views of the ocean.
My wife and I are regular visitors to De Brasserie, and we are always greeted by Rambo, our waiter, who is world class. He is professional, courteous, and always puts a smile on our faces. His service adds to the already fantastic dining experience.
For starters, I would highly recommend the Tempura Calamari. We also like to add the 4-piece "Chef's Favourite" Sushi for the perfect starter combo to share between two. The main dishes on the menu are all exceptional, but we keep coming back to the Scampi Diabolique - a spicy creamy prawn dish and true Belgium classic! It's simply divine.
For wine lovers, I would highly recommend trying the Almenkerk Sauvignon Blanc or their Sauvignon Blanc Lace. Both wines are crisp and refreshing, with a lovely fruity bouquet that pairs perfectly with the seafood dishes on the menu.
Overall, De Brasserie is a top-tier restaurant with exceptional food, service, and ambiance. If you're looking for a memorable dining experience in the Helderberg area, this is the...

During our visit, my wife ordered the sirloin cooked medium to well, while I requested the rump cooked medium rare. Unfortunately, there was a mix-up with our orders; my wife received the rump, which was cooked medium instead of medium rare, and I was served the sirloin, which was very well done. We decided to switch our meals, but both cuts were disappointingly tough, lacking tenderness, and excessively dry. Given the advertised prices, we were surprised by the quality of the steaks. Earlier in the week, we dined at Ernie Els' restaurant and enjoyed similar cuts that were excellently prepared for nearly the same price. This experience was particularly disheartening, especially considering the restaurant's positive reputation and our luck in securing a table on Monday, January 13., and we looked forward to our last meal in the Cape before leaving for Gauteng!
The spicy rice was satisfactory, and our waiter, Joseph, was friendly and attentive. However, an unfortunate incident occurred when I attempted to season my tasteless steak with salt; the top of the salt shaker was not properly secured, resulting in half the shaker of coarse salt spilling onto my plate, effectively...

During my latest visit to Somerset West, I was drawn to "De Brasserie," a beachfront restaurant renowned for its fresh fish and seafood dishes.
With the option to sit in air-conditioned comfort inside or enjoy the fresh breeze on the shaded terrace, the restaurant provided the perfect setting for a relaxed lunch.
The menu impressed with a variety that ranged from classic Belgian to French influences, and every bite testified to the quality and freshness of the ingredients.
The careful presentation of the dishes was particularly eye-catching. Despite the excellent food, the service was somewhat confused on the day, leading to longer waiting times.
These minor service mishaps slightly diminished the overall experience but did not overshadow the brilliant overall impression.
Price-wise, De Brasserie is in the higher segment, which seems justified given the location and quality of the food. A visit to "De Brasserie" is recommended for anyone who values first-class cuisine in an...
