Food Quality: This spot is a flavor haven in Gordons Bay, boasting the most consistently mouthwatering offerings when it comes to portion size and taste. Their "small" combo is anything but smallāit's a delightful feast! And let's not forget to shower praise on their irresistibly tasty garlic mayo; it's a game-changer!
Service: The dedicated staff here are true troopers, often clocking in long hours and even working through holidays. So, let's show them some love by being patient and treating them with the respect they deserve. Their service is top-notch, and any slip-ups are swiftly and graciously corrected. I once witnessed a minor hiccup, which was promptly addressed by a staff member who apologized, despite my assurance that it was no big deal.
Atmosphere and Ambiance: Although the building leans more towards a takeout vibe than a dine-in experience, the ambiance inside is surprisingly enchanting. Somehow, they manage to whisk you away to a seaside setting, even when you're nestled next to a bustling road. It's a lively spot to kick back and enjoy your meal, though shade seekers may need to strategize a bit. Expect a waiting time of around 20 to 30 minutesātrust me, it's worth the wait!
Memorable Rating: 8/10, thanks to the mouthwatering consistency of their dishes.
Conclusion: All in all, this place is a seafood lover's dream in Gordons Bay. With its delectable offerings, cheerful atmosphere, and attentive service, it's a seafood shack that's definitely worth a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis little shop, circled in red in my 1st pic, is so easy to miss but please donāt. Actually make a trip just to try their food, itās worth it. I tried a platter for 1 and it was more than enough for 2, i ordered an extra hake which I had to take away. All the food in my pics for R200, itās a steal. Price aside though, the food is excellent. The crisp and taste of the batter, combined with the freshness of all the ingredients, makes this the best fish and chips Iāve ever had. Their sauces are good as well, even the potato chips are perfectly blanched and fried. The location too is just perfect under the Helderberg mountains just below Sir Lowrys pass, and not far from the Gordans bay beaches. It takes a little while to prepare your order, so it may be good to phone your order through before arrival, the number is on my bill. Preparation only starts on order, which is great if you really want this meal at its best. Iāve tried most of the best Fish places in the UK as well, and most in Cape Town too as well as other countries. This place may be the reason that all others will not get a 5 star from me.
Note: Iāve dined here 4 times, always the same order and itās always prepared exactly the same. This is my favourite fish and chip shop...

The garlic sauce is delicious, and the tartar sauce is one of the better ones I've tried. Although the calamari is lightly crumbed, it's quite good. Generally, the fish and calamari can be more seasoned.
The seating area is really not good. Very cramped and small. BUT, service was great, with friendly staff and not too long a wait for your meal. At first, they seem a little expensive, but the portions are well sized, which makes it worthwhile.
An update, I still think the batter can be better seasoned. I find myself salting my fish and calamari...
