Sopra - Just a short, delightfully scenic drive from Capetown to Scarborough is a relatively new Italian restaurant on the first floor of The Village Hub. We visited SOPRA restaurant on a Cape Winter's day. The deck must be a feast on a summersday. The relatively small menu comprises of an interesting variety of Italian dishes. We found the staff welcoming and enthusiastic! With a huge smile, the busy 'chief chef', Patrick Maqhawe, introduced himself to us. We ordered three different dishes from menu. Each one bursting with interesting flavours. I had a scrumptious dish of Sicilian style, pan fried salmon, served with green beans. My friends enjoyed the handmade butternut potato ravioli with Napolitano sauce. We shared an amazing Finocachio salad, comprising of roasted fennel, orange, avo and rocker salad drenched in thyme vinaigrette. I believe that the pizza dough is fermented for 24 hours to add the special quality needed for extraordinary quality. This restaurant is highly recommended.

4 people for lunch: 2 x pizzas: disappointing for an Italian restaurant. Thick, bready bases. One pizza was burned quite badly. The waitress did offer to change it, but we declined as we were a bit pressed for time. I feel they should not have served it like that in the first place. Pasta Pommodoro was over-cooked, pasta was soft and definitely not al dente. The fourth guest was quite happy with his risotto. Service was very good. Location is quite nice and convenient, with ample parking.

Stunning location. Had two beautiful fireplaces that kept us warm and extremely comfortable. Delicious arancini with a gorgeous slightly chilly sauce. Had spaghetti allo scoglio with an extremely generous portion of seafood (R250). Only downer was the mussels didn’t taste fresh. But overall beautiful plate accompanied with a Sauvignon Blanc as recommended made for a good lunch.

We were a very large group (15 people) who booked in advance for a Sunday lunch. Only one waitress was assigned to us. Service was excruciatingly slow. We asked for "plain penne" for 2 young kids and the waitress completely messed it up, bringing them penne arrabiata. She then argued with us about what we said. Second time around it didn't feel like the kids' order was prioritised, it appeared as if it simply went back into the ordering queue. No urgency. It arrived drowned in butter, and one kid refused to eat it. We were then told we will be charged for the second order. No manager came over, it was communicated via the waitress. There was chaos with sorting out the bill. Overall the food was really average. It was clear the owner was not on site or even an able manager. Food - 3 to 4 stars....

No.1 local spot on the Peninsula. Always searching special places where you arrive hungry and leave feeling part of the furniture!

Upstairs open plan with a cooling sea breeze and views of the Atlantic over the milkwood (noted the wood burners for the winter!). The staff and super welcoming and all have a story to tell it feels like a family.

The owner and chef both came to our table to help with the choice of food a menu inspired by the owners seaside Itialian up bringing and a chef with a smile that shows off his passion and if you dine here go and find out some of the secrets behind his dishes. Made it taste much more yummy knowing the TLC that had been put into menu.

Highly recommended the local beer as well.
