I really loved visiting this place and I still highly recommend coming for the views, but I feel I absolutely have to share this warning: Exercise EXTREME caution here if you have food allergies or intolerances.
I have pretty severe lactose intolerance and milk allergy, so when I saw there was oat milk on the menu, I was very excited, since it’s not common to see that as an option in Korea. I double and triple checked that my order was oat milk and the person who took my order confirmed and repeated “oat milk” back to me.
However, 30 min after I had my “oat milk” mango latte, I started experiencing stomach pains. I asked my friend who had tried a sip, “did that taste like oat milk to you?” and she was like “oh crap… no, it didn’t.” It was hard to tell with the mango flavoring, but in hindsight I think it tasted too good to be true.
I started having cold sweats, diarrhea, and even vomited, and broke out with hives on my face - all my classic symptoms of milk ingestion (I don’t have this reaction to anything else).
I beg the people who work here to be more careful - one mistake can steal an entire day away from a tourist. The people who worked here are super nice, but at the end of the day, they hurt me very badly and destroyed my trust :(
Edit: the store replied that the checked the CCTV and that they gave me oat milk and suggested it was because of the cake I ate. Firstly, it was my friend who ordered the cheesecake, I did not eat it. I had the lemon cake, and I don’t react to normal baked goods. Many people with dairy intolerances can eat baked goods that have milk in them - I only react to straight milk or ice cream. I’ve been in Korea for a week already and have been having baked goods without an issue, and I also eat baked goods at home all the time with no problems. If my illness was not caused by milk, then it may have been...
