LOCOS BBQ (Busan) — Restaurant in Busan

So happy to have found this place! I moved to Singapore last year and miss being able to get BBQ without paying a fortune for it. I happened across this place today with my two boys and we thought we'd give it a try.

I wasn't able to read the Korean parts of the menu and so I wasn't sure if the meals came with side dishes (like fries) or not....but it looked like they didn't. We each chose a meal and 1-2 side dishes and pushed the button for the waiter. He arrived mere seconds later and I started ordering. Low and behold, the guy spoke pretty good English and explained that some of the sides we were ordering were already included. We ordered our three meals - pulled pork, pork belly, and BBQ chicken - and also ordered buttered grilled corn and chili cheese fries.

The food came out and I felt like I was back home in the US. The pulled pork and BBQ chicken were fantastic! The fries were delicious and the corn was perfect. I didn't try my son's pork belly as it just didn't strike me as a real BBQ dish, but he said it was good.

The only thing I really wasn't impressed by was the chili cheese fries. The chili had an oddly dry texture and was on top of the cheese. I've never seen cheese under the chili before this. But this is the only dish I didn't absolutely love.

The sweet BBQ sauce was fantastic - very similar to Sonny's BBQ sweet sauce, if you're familiar with that chain.

One small thing that would have really made this experience over the top for me would been if sweeted iced tea was on the menu. I know sweet tea isn't really consumed outside of the US, but I would have loved to have had some with this tasty BBQ.

Bravo!! This may be a generous 5 stars because we are a little BBQ starved after 2 years…but we REALLY enjoyed our lunch!! They hit the “trifecta” with good meat, good sauce, good sides! Here we go… Meat- add the two person sampler… Brisket – chicken – pulled pork. Pulled pork was a little bit dry, but the sauce (will get to that later) made it worthwhile. The chicken would be a little bit better if they salt brined, but the sauce was actually really good on it. The brisket was tender and tasty, though my wife always likes a little heartier smoke flavor to her brisket. Sauces- three varieties, all tasty. The sweet BBQ reminded me of a KC style sauce. The Chipotle BBQ was unique and had a little zip to it. The Mustard was thinker than what I’ve had in SC, but I liked it better than SC BBQ sauce - probably because it was pretty sweet. All said, all of the sauces were winners for us. Sides - beans could have been a little warmer. Slaw was a hit- wifey gives a thumbs up, and she can be pretty stingy on her positive slaw reviews. The potatoes had a little gravy in the middle…didn’t seem super fresh, but the taste was good. The food was decent but the service was absolute trash in my opinion. Came in and they led us to a table with no backrest chairs so we requested if we could move to an empty table with the backrest as there was one in front of us. What they replied was that there were other customers waiting outside and so it would be difficult to do so. But what I dont understand here is that the following customers could have taken over our table once we moved to the new table as we have not ordered any food nor drinks yet. So we just settled and ate , but the table had lots of spaces and gaps in between them, causing the sauce and food to spill over onto our clothes. While we were halfway through the lunch, a family of 4 came in and they also requested to change their seats just like us! And guess what happened, the waiters immediately allowed them to change and so they did. I dont know if they are trying to disrespect us because we are young but this service was just atrocious. Came in to enjoy good food, went out feeling disgusted. We weve asked the manager guy why he wouldnt let us change seat just now and gave some feedbacks but he seemed to be just ignoring us and tried to hurry up and chase us out.
